I was just elected to the board of my HOA.  I am now=

We are a fairly young board with no member, including the property management company, that has been serving for over 1 year.

The trend has been to keep our pool working and keep the common areas clean(er) with minimal intrusion on home owners, a huge change from past administration.

Flame on.

As long as the board members address the issues and keep their noses clean you shouldn't have any problems.  However, if you guys don't, well take a look a this website I setup for a friend.  http://www.lakewoode.com  The site is pathetic and is an embaressment to my Sr. Software Engineer title but I threw it up quick for a friend and did it for free.

I figured this thread would have gotten a lot more comments.  The OP must have posted it at the wrong time of day.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I predict, much like Wyatt Earp, you'll go apeshit with your new "authoritay." You'll be writing infraction tickets for everything. You'll be wearing pieces of flair. It'll be a full blown Mussolini transformation.

This is my prediction.

The management company writes the letters for violations––usually weeds or parking in your yard.  I know of many in the 'hood, but I won't make a peep.

And guns!  You don't want to have to worry about the kids running into some paranoid, gun toting nutcase sitting on an arsenal of high powered military style assault rifles and a cache of large calibre bullets.

Then offer to help dispose of them properly

What is your HOA stance on PortaPotties?

I recall one that banned portable toilets.  I would have enjoyed hearing the "back story" to that piece of HOA ruleage.

I was nominated for my HOA by the president of the HOA.

Let me know how it goes for you.

My only concern for the HOA to do is get a generator for our well in case of SHTF.   And fuel.

Rule fail.

5.56 NATO is not greater in caliber than 9mm.

Congratulations. I served as the president on our board for six months for six months and got sick of all the little old ladies wanting me to tell their upstairs neighbors they were walking too loud. That was 1 1/2 years ago.

I was unanimously asked to be President again by all 48 units in our complex without even running.
