BUT, all that music is still on my iPod. SO, can i get it from my ipod back to the computer? PLEASE, this is killing me

I'm pretty sure there are ways to move the music from your iPod back to iTunes.  Sorry I don't know how, but it is possible, IIRC.   Of course, you should ask on every gun forum you can find.  Those iPod forums are useless when it comes to iPods.

Why don't you have a backup of your files somewhere?  You should always have TWO copies of your data that is not replaceable.  Music on your iPod doesn't count as a backup in a general easy-to-restore.

Are all your songs boxes checked?

Also do you have it set up so it is only syncing playlist?

If your computer is a Mac, then you can use Senuti to transfer your music from your iPod.

The program is free, and transferring files is easy.

If not... then someone else is going to have to help you because I don't do Windows.

There's got to be some program out there for PC's ... I just don't know what it is.

Good luck.

Music Rescue works well for copying mp3's and mp4's from an ipod to another drive, and it is free.

then make sure on the playlist you want to sync that all the songs have the boxes selected. Also make sure you have itunes set to only sync the playlist.

If you are using windows, you can get at it without any special programs, but it is a little more difficult.

Be sure that you can see "hidden files" - this is something that you turn on in "folder options"

Once you've turned those on, you can see the "music" file on your iPod.  From there you pretty much copy and paste it back into your music library.

^ This.

Also, you may or may not have to Import Folder from iTunes, this will rename the files and put them in their proper Artist/Album folders.

You can un-hide the files yourself, but if they're all in MP4 or M4A format, the song titles all show up as four random capital letters.  I was told about iDump here a couple weeks ago, and it works great for me.

Amen on all accounts.

Senuti saved my ass about 4 years ago.
