We obviously didn’t learn from history. Does anyone know why the revolutionary war started? Two ideas, here they are;
One group wanted the liberty and freedom to pursue their ideas. The other group believed that it was their god given duty to provide for the citizens as they thought was best. Guess which was the British and which were the colonist. |

We obviously didn’t learn from history. Does anyone know why the revolutionary war started? Two ideas, here they are; Too complex an issue to cover in a sentence or two as you tried to do. The English finally got around to levying a fraction of the taxes against the colonists that were being levied against the folks at home. The royals couldn't understand why the colonists were flipping out over taxes that amounted to a fraction of what was being charged at home. Then you have the reality that a LOT of colonists didn't want to break free; well into the war there was only about a third of the population supporting the war, and that was after the various British actions that the colonial propaganda machine whipped up for the population.. if the Crown had bent a little bit early on and defused the crisis, we'd probably STILL be a Brit holding. George was out of touch. |

Aftermath
In the morning, Gage awoke to find Boston besieged by a huge militia army, numbering over 15,000, which had marched from throughout New England.[89] This time, unlike during the Powder Alarm, the rumors of spilled blood were true, and the Revolutionary War had begun. The militia army continued to grow as surrounding colonies sent men and supplies. The Continental Congress would adopt and sponsor these men into the beginnings of the Continental Army. Even now, after open warfare had started, Gage still refused to impose martial law in Boston. He persuaded the town's selectmen to surrender all private weapons in return for promising that any inhabitant could leave town If there were a few worried about be enslaved why was there 15,000 colonist armed and sitting around boston in 2 days. |

I made a statement and then asked a question. What exactly wasn't clear? If someone would have answered the questions I would have replied by asking if they see any parallel to today. Bulkhead You made an oversimplified comment that inaccurately tried to project modern day events onto the 18th century. Try again. |
