I just ordered this one for $100:
http://www.casio.com/products/Timepiece/G-Shock/MTG910DA-1V/ I can't wait to get it. My first G-Shock. I already have plenty of other watches but always wanted a digital and didn't have one. The fact this is solar and atomic is awesome. |
|
I have one of the atomic solar models. Don't recall the product number, though.
I dig it. Waterproof. Shock proof. Bullet proof. Laser proof. Ninja proof. Zombie proof. I still need to buy a good Rolex or similiar type for chumming in bad neighborhoods. The Casio just doesn't scream "Rob Me!". It's the only downfall, IMHO. |
|
I purchased one in 1992!! It read 'Battery Guaranteed for 10 Years"...I did not believe the BS.
I WAS WRONG. I have never changed the battery and it is still running today, however if you turn the light on or the alarm goes off, the display will dim a little. However 16/17 years and still going. |

I have an atomic solar.
I have Tags, Breitlings, and Omegas but when it comes town to putting a watch on when I know its going to get some hard use I always go for the G Shock. That thing has taken more than I ever thought it would and just keeps coming back for more. I would be willing to bet my G Shock outlast me and I am only 30 |

Have pretty much worn G-Shocks since I was in high school, up until I got a Pathfinder. Wanted the built-in compass and barometer. In the next month or so I'm going back to the G-Shock.....the Pathfinder just can't hold up to even ordinary everyday wear.
Last one was a G-Shock G2800. Only problem with it is needing a new battery. |

I bought a G-Shock on August 2, 1990 (the day Iraq invaded Kuwait). That watch, although a bit dinged up, is still going strong today - with no battery change. Quoted:
Anyone got a baby-G? I'm a fan of the Andy mc Nabb novels, and the hero SAS Guy in it has a casio baby-G. Its his only reminder of his daughter that got wacked a couple of books ago.. Ha, I bought a Baby-G for my wife because of the mention of it in one of his books. |

I have a DW-5700 I purchased back in 1990 or so which still runs on the original battery. I replaced the rubber bezel and band (paid far too much for the replacement bezel) which disintegrated after taking too many baths in CLP.
I wore it all over the world when I was on active duty, and it has great sentimental value for me. Maybe I'll find a picture. |

Quoted: I asked for a Baby G for Christmas one year because I read those books and did not realize it was a girl's watchQuoted: I purchased one in 1992!! That's why I glued some cubic zirconia around the LCD display on mine. You gots any idea how valuable a custom "BLING BLING" G-Shock is, yo?

I want one of the pathfinder ones but I have too many watches already. I'd honestly counsel against it. And that's having owned the PAW1200T-7V for almost a year now. Function-wise it is great. Finish-wise...well, of all the G-Shocks I've owned, the only trouble I've ever had was the band breaking. With the Pathfinder, The black finish on the bezel is wearing off, the metal finish on the outer front face is wearing off, and a chunk of the actual watch material came off under the Mode button. I'll see if I can snap some pics of it.....but the point is I've never had a G-Shock experience that much wear from only a year of casual wearing. |
