both my wife and myself work for a large Food service company, we do foodservice for healthcare, hospitality, offshore, high end venues and also Schools, . my wife is a purchasing analyst in the what the buying/selling division for our company. one of our accounts is Harvard. this is an email that was sent to the local district manager for that account from a Senior at Harvard. needless to say the DM forwarded it to my wife's boss for the ensuing hilarity of it. this is a Future Lawyer and or possibly more..
I took out his name for obvious reasons Dear ****, Thanks for speaking with me earlier and explaining the situation with the ketchup packets and bottles and the exclusive contract with ConAgra. I wanted to write to urge your colleagues in North Carolina to strongly consider breaching the contract (our buying out of it) and/or not renewing it when it expires. It is simply unacceptable for a company that purports to represent the highest quality in foodservice and catering (Compass and Restaurant Associates) to exclusively serve a subpar brand like Hunt's. We all know that Heinz is the best ketchup. The vast majority of consumers prefer it, and it is widely served by foodservice providers such as Sodexho, whom you all took over for this year. I have never met a person who prefers Hunt's. I was on the Foodservice Committee last Spring that decided whether to renew our contract with Sodexho or go with your organization. I was sufficiently impressed with your proposal and presentation (I attended Sodexho's too) that I unequivocally recommended you. I said, for instance, that I was attracted by the promise of "restaurant quality food and restaurant quality presentation" and that RA was the "creme de la creme." Thus, it was to my great dismay to discover that your organization serves a lower quality ketchup. To me, that suggests that not only is the ketchup low quality, but perhaps so is the chicken, the soup, or the vegetables. It calls into question RA and Compass' whole attitude towards providing quality brands and quality food. There is only one quality ketchup, and it is Heinz. It is well worth the extra marginal cost.
