Im on my break so I go to get some more peppermints from the truck.

I get stopped by a manager from another dept trying to get me to work OT tonight.

They started enforcing the new dress code today and sent most of the staff home for being out of dress code, now they have 4 times as many calls as people, 20min hold time and climbing.  

No workboots, no athletic shows, no jeans, etc.  5.11 black pants and jackboots are acceptable though.  I work in a call center so we never see the customer (unless they come to kill in to avenge missing American Idol) and they are sending people home for wearing boots/shoes with laces.

Im still going home at midnight.

Several of the guys would dress in the most gaudy, hideous, tacky looking shirts, ties, etc while still technically being within the dress code. Pissed off the management but they werent breaking any rules.

I did that at a old job came with no T shirts no jeans and no athletic shoes

I wore whatever gun brand polo I had around

I had a ton from the gun shop days
solid color BDU pants and nicely polished combat boots
all with in the rules as set forth

FWIW I looked pretty good  actually

See I can see how this might be true in a customer-facing job, but if you're a call center drone, I'm not sure I agree.  To me, comfortable employee = happy employee = productive employee.

Its epic tomorrow when someone has  tp answer for why over half the calls dropped while on hold and hols time was 30mins.

Target amounts is less then 2min hold time and less then 5% of calls dropping

No hijack intended, but you response here is an epic fail.  I work for the the FAA in Tech Ops and this dress code for the controllers wasn't a bad thing.  Controllers work in areas that have a metric ass ton of electrical/electronic equipment that has to be kept cool.  These asshat controllers would come in wearing shorts, a tank top, and flip flops and then complain about the temperature.  Jeans and running shoes and maybe a sweater kept at work would have made the cool temps not a problem, but no, they had to wear the flip flops and tank tops.  They got what they deserved and guess what, when you make $140000, you can afford some polos and slacks.

My brother in law used to work at a call center. The one time I was in the building it was summer and most of the women and a few of the men had their shoes off and pushed into a corner of their cubicle.

Hell, I wish I had an office job where I could work in my socks or bare feet!

I remember a long time ago when had to start wearing "business casual" clothes to work.

I HATED it lol, but then I discovered that there are some Really comfy 'casual' clothes out there.

Here are some recommednations:

Haggar Q line of pants; some kind of teased cotton on the inside that feels like pajamas

Nike dri Fit polo shirts, a bit spendy, but you can find em at Khols for ~$30ish. they look good, wick sweat away and are more comfy than a t-shirt IMHO.

GOOD shoes; I've had "dress" shoes that feel better than most sneakers. Everyone's feet are different, but I've had good luck w/ Dockers and Nun Bush.

But, you got the whole jack-boot thing going on so, that one may be a moot point, lol

Great Cesear's Ghost.  Do you mean that the people in your call center don't look like the young, dynamic, professionally groomed smiling children like in the ads?

All the dental call center people have uptodate cleaned and sparkling teeth.

All of the lube and tune guys wear uniforms and have short haircuts at its call center.

I know that the women in the porn call centers are older than your grandmother and look like overweight hags - but your call center!!!
