I noticed that they advocated tapping (as part of SPORTS) the magazine into place instead of PUSH/PULL.  And in the course of the video, I saw that this caused malfunctions for some students as the top round would be "tapped" loose into the chamber. Anyone else see this?

ETA:  I'm just a chairborne ranger and it's just an observation I made.

If rounds pop loose when you tap your mags... you CLEARLY have busted feed lips and your mag needs to get tossed.

Let me guess, these are the students in disc 1?

Yep, you're right.  Or could it also be due to a very weak spring?  At any rate, I saw it happening in both discs by the way.  And I just finished watching the second disc.

Slapping the mag is soooo 1995.  Slapping causes some nasty jams when a bullet pops out the top.

I love the AR magazine system. It's so convenient and user friendly.

Or as my DS taught us:

SPORTSM

slap pull observe release tap squeeze murder.

"DS, I was under the impression that soldiers didn't murder, we killed."
"Push."

Well, that's what I'm thinking if your mags aren't 100%.  Seems like PUSH/PULL is a bit more forgiving.

Or as Peter G. Kokalis has said on so many occasions since the early 80s, the magazine is the Achilles' Heel of the Armalite system.
