A friend of mine did that with an AR - and the barrel stayed intact.
Subsequent use revealed that the barrel WAS damaged, in that it could no longer shoot accurately - but there was no visible external damage, and everything still functioned mechanically. (This was a Bushmaster M4 clone). If the picture in this thread is legitmiate, then my friend's experience is a tribute to how well-built the AR rifle is. |
