I did a search for this and came up empty so please be easy if there is already a thread related....
I keep hearing that there are bills/proposals regarding the serializing of ammunition in the future? I actually laughed when I heard this a month or so ago but heard it again by my local FFL recently. Is this a reality that we are facing? How in hell's name can this be enforced? I am in awe at the stupidity of this but also that I hear that there is a big legislative push for something like this. Any info is greatly appreciated. |
| the proposal is nuts but then again, lots of other things that have been proposed and passed in the past in the name of fighting crime have been nuts. Long as they leave it up to individual states to opt in or out, I think I am in good shape. Regulators in Texas know gun rights are one thing they better not mess with if they want to get re-elected. |

The bad thing about that bill (actually, it's all bad) is the $0.5 per round tax - that's $5.00 per 100-rds. This tax will be in addition to the increased costs manufacturers are burdened with in compliance with this bill. I'd hate to see what ammo would cost under this. Not to mention the panic/rush to buy all you can before the bill goes into effect (IF it ever happens). Also, the $0.5 tax will be used to create and maintain an ammo database, with your info tieing you to every box you buy.
In the (unlikely?) event they ever try and ban/take firearms your doorbell rings and the local LEO asks for your 9mm firearm. Yours being not registered, you reply that you don't own a 9mm firearm....... then he produces a printout as proof that you have been buying 9mm ammo at the rate of 2 boxes a week for the last 6 months........... for what?
Theory, I know, but.......... possible....... maybe ..... |
