Wife has been complaining of  an upset stomach since dinner. We at the same thing.  Just now before bed she turned ashen, lips are not pink like they should be. Temp of 96 even.  Says she feels week and lethargic. I pressed on her lower right abdomen and she winced in pain. I'm seriously considering picking her up and taking her to the ER. She won't go unless I force her.  Advice needed.

Not a doctor, but I would be halfway to the ER by now with those symptoms.

ETA: Hope it's nothing serious and she feels better soon - but when it doubt: Get thee to a doctor!

She won't go. I told her she has till 1 am to show any sign of improvement and if not, we're going to the ER

She just wanted to get in bed. I helped her up and her hands are ice cold...she's always cold though. What worries me is that she's 1. in pain and 2. the color of her face.

She said she felt faint at first but not anymore. I asked her just before she went to bed if she was feeling better. She said not faint but the abdomenal pain is worse.

Don't give her the option, Tricare pays 100% for ER visits. Take her now. Use that insurance.

Temp of 96, abdominal pain, etc etc etc and you're not on your way to the ER?

I am not a doctor, but a Firefighter/EMT. Severe tenderness in abdomen, and accompanying symptoms transport to hospital, ASAP.

Still home? Respirations Per Min? Pulse?? Skin condition? Cold clammy sweaty?

Take her now even though she says no.

My guess, as I've seen SIMILAR before. She's pale, cold, confused and combative(argumentative) from hypotension. Several reason for it, but blood loss (shock) is a guess.

If she won't go with you, call a fucking ambulance.

This life and death health shit is not that difficult. CALL SOMEBODY INSTEAD OF CHATTING ON ARFCOM.

Unless her life insurance is paid up. Then stock up on ammo.

The stupidity of some people on Arfcom never ceases to amaze me.

Hmmmm, my wife is fucked up and doubled over in pain, let me ask Arfcom what they think instead of seeking immediate medical help.

that would be my guess, the area should be really sensitive if you poke it, and she will puke soon... but typically you have a fever, not a cold

If it is on HER right side, most likely. I woke up at 3am once with VERY similar symptoms to the OPs wife when I was still living at home. Tried to go back to sleep, got maybe a half hour, woke up from the discomfort. Couldn't find any pepto or anything so I woke my mom to ask if we had any, she took one look and marched my ass to the car.

Long story short, 7 hours later I was on the operating table. Doc said if I'd waiting more than 24 hours it would have ruptured. That is BAD NEWS.

Take her now if you have to toss her over your shoulder!

But I side with the majority; our free advice is worth every penny you paid, and should let some local prfessionals with the letters M and D in their signatures check her out.

Could also be DIVERTICULITIS. Imagine a small sac developing on the inside of your colon; it resembles the bulge that forms on a bicycle tire tube. Imagine that sac perforating, or bursting. Imagine PEROTINITIS developing. Imagine your wife doubled over in pain. This is apparently every bit as dangerous as appendicitis, but easier to treat. My mom had this.

Hospital. Now.

no shit man, if your woman don't want to go to the ER, have her read this;

back in 89' I spent several days in icu and another two weeks in the hospital when mine ruptured,

felt like shit the night before, went to work feeling worse with lowgrade fever, toward the late afternoon I started to feel better, got home that evening felt even better, then around midnight I really started feeling really bad, high fever, chills then the pukes and trots started soon after, my then GF kept trying to get me to go to the ER, I didn't have insurance so I didn't want to go,

around 4am my mom, aunt and uncle shows up, the GF couldn't stand seeing me roll around on the floor anymore between dry heaves and crawling the bathroom so she called them, my  uncle jabs me on the side, doubles me over, tells me he thought it was my appendix, so off the ER we go, I lived approx 10 minutes from hospital, takes a lot longer, had to keep pulling over so I could dry heave, the shits had stopped long before then, nothing left to come out, but it didn't stop the feeling of needing to or my guts spasisming out.

get there and ER doc jabs around on me, then says yep appendix, the GF describes to him the last 36hours and off to surgery I go.

the surgon comes by icu sometime later when I can stay awake for longer than few minutes at a time (kept me pretty doped up for a while) and tells me I'm all fucked up got infection all through my guts, this I confirmed by feeling all the drain tubes sticking out and all the iv bags running into me, plus the smell of the stuff running out of the tubes made the nurses gag a few times when they changed the bandages.

he told me I was about a rch from cashing in my chips, explained that I felt like shit the night and day before because my appendix was inflamed and swelling, and that I felt better toward the afternoon because it'd ruptured, and I started feeling worse that night because infection was spreading through my guts.

hell I had to go back to the hospital everyday for two weeks after I got out to have a bag of iv antibiotics injected along with the oral antibiotics I was taking, every other day the doc pulled the drain tubes out a couple of inches more.

hell man it might not be her appendix, might be an eptopic pregnacy, or just be the stomach flu, but if she's got a tender stomach and it gets worse, then no since chancing it, take her in, insist on it if you have to.

In her case I would say an ambulance would be justified. But for the record please don't call 911 and tie up an ALS unit that really may be needed somewher else, ONLY because you don't want to wait in the ER waiting room. If your condition is not serious you may very well be placed in the triage section out in the lobby even if you arrive by ambulance. We put patients that we transport to the ER out there all the time. Plus you will have accumulated an ambulance bill.

just sayin

OP hope your wife is fine. Waiting for update...

Sorry for no update. Yes, I had alot of post's. I'm a post whore newbie, what can I say

Anyway, I'm gonna get flamed here but here goes.

She refused to go last night. I told her that she had till 1 am to feel better and when I went to bed she said she felt fine. She had the color back in her face and seemed normal.  She seems fine and is up and about now.  Its about that time of the month so she thinks that's where some of the cramping is coming from.  She just came off BC and that's what was regulating her before. (she has a severe menstul period)

I have seen people fall out before because of the appendix going Tango Uniform on them and that's what she was looking like, that's why I was as worried as I was.

What bothers me more than anything is that she said it's not the first time that it's happend (so she told me today).  This is the first for me because I've been out to sea for the other episodes.

She has an unnatural fear of doctors or hospitals so anything short of bleeding out or giving birth, she won't go to the hospital.

Yes, I know that Tricare will cover it even though her ID expired on the 7th.  She needs to be checked out but I can't force her to go anywhere short of throwing her tiny ass over my shoulder and throwing her in the car.

I told her next time it happens that there will be no discussion and that she WILL go.

I appreciate everyone's support and goading.

If you don't need an ambulance to take you to the ER, chances are you don't need to go to the ER.  I would never encourage anyone to to just call 911 so they dont have to wait in line, that would be retarded heh.

Also, OP, glad to hear everything is ok!  Maybe take this opportunity to schedule an appointment with a doctor and see if shes ok.

They would take her in an ambulance and then she'd wait 4 hours in a room unless she was dying or spouting blood.
