My friend and I are in a severe slump at the moment and I've come to request advice on what to do to give our lives a little influx of new activity. We've had falling out with our usual crowd and sitting around playing games and seeing movies really just doesn't do it for us anymore.

Suggestions? We're both employed, live near a large metropolitan area, and are around the age of 17-18 so money is a small issue at times.

Enlist and get in the best shape of your young lives.
Or get in the best shape of your young lives and then enlist.

Any local clubs you would like to join?  Join the Masons?   How about a few night classes at the local community college?  Get a second job?  Find a girlfriend?  Restore an automobile.   Join the police cadets?

I support this. Enlist and find out what living is really like. I can guarantee you won't ever be bored.

Yeah, we were thinking of joining some sort of club, but we are having trouble thinking of anything good local. As for the rest, they are good idea's but not really our things, but thanks.

But that is what we are looking for, for the most part; something that we can meet new people and just get things off are mind. Kickboxing was an idea for a while.

There is a club you can join at the recruiters office.  You get to shoot all the 5.56 ammo you want, and you might even get to drive a tank!

Still in school?  Plans after HS?

Try making stuff.  My buddy and I had good times building (and using) potato guns together.  We even had an all-night longbow making contest once.

Not bad.  Ideally we're looking for something with a social aspect to it.  Meeting new people, stuff like that.

We were going to do that, but the problem is that we already work out everyday at school.

So yeah, figuring out something good is hard... =/

That's the plan for my friend, but that is somewhat far off.  A solution that would help us now is what we are looking for.  We've still 8-9 months until College time rolls around. And we both would agree that's a long time of boredom.

I'm confused about your first paragraph.  Are you insinuating something?

College or military you are at an age where just meandering along tends to lead to trouble.

You'll meet lots of neighbors you didn't know you had if you get your potato guns working right.

kickboxing or some other martial art is definitely a good idea!

good skills, good discipline, good friends.

plus you can kick each other asses when you get bored.

(seriously, a hard core training partner is one of the best things you can have in martial arts...)

What's there to insinuate?  We're bored with doing nothing and want to find some stuff to pass the time and meet new people.
