I love that movie!

The parts near the beginning where the two New Mexico cops are in the desert and find the destroyed home are super creepy.

As for rounds, they seemed to do okay with .45 ACP from those Thompson SMGs.

Its a great movie.  I remember being scared out of my mind when I was a little kid and saw it.  Even though its from the 50's, its still a good movie.

Large caliber, preferably belt fed...........You know like a 20MM VULCAN Gatling gun.

Those will go through giant ants like a USC Trojan goes through a Penn State Nittany Lion Line!!!

You'd definitely want to be throwing as much lead at them as possible.  And have plenty of mags.

Great film.

Another classic is Fiend Without a Face.  Disembodied Brains/Spinal Cords flying around and getting shot with M1911s.

I don't know. Them ants look pretty tough ... and organized. Plus, they're not led by a creature 4 times older than they are. I'd say the ants got a lot over PSU.

I just rented Them! and Forbidden Planet about three weeks ago. I wanted to show my son (ten) what old school horror and sci-fi was like. His reaction was not very scary, but cool Thompson's,old cop cars, and revolvers. Good kid. Them! is a way cool flick.

Ya, I knew he was in The Thing.  Mainly Gunsmoke was my biggest exposure to him.  I was watching GS Christmas day with my dad and spotted a very young Jody Foster too.

Hence, Formicidea, of Hymenoptera, which includes bees, wasps and ants.

Best part of the movie.  Extra points for proper use of the rifle sling.

Lots of famous folks were bit actors in this one.
The General
Major Kibbe,
Fess Parker,
Leonard Nimoy
Couple of the Army guys,
The senators during the meeting,
That blonde navy rating with Nimoy is familiar too, but I can't place her.
