Depends on what bitrate they're encoded at.

Depends, how much do your songs weigh?

roughly 1000. Which believe it or not isn't that much. I have 1500 or so on mine and am constantly in search of new good music.

FWIW a subscription to napster with unlimited downloads is worth it. You just have to convert them from MP3.

I dunno I thinks its a 'nano" about 4" x 4"

You stated it in your original post. It's a 4 gb.

For a home docking station check out the Athenas.

Actually this is a smoking deal here.

No, you don't.

ETA: spoke too soon, don't know anything about Napster's MP3's.

I got my daughter a Bose home docking station for Christmas, along with a 16 gb Ipod touch that holds I think a million or so songs.
I have a 4 gb ipod that I use just for running, and my daughter added some songs last night for a total of about 75 on it.  I'm just  curious how many more it will hold if it'll hold a thousand it will never see a quarter of that.

I qualified my posting.  I don't know anything about Napster's service, whether there's DRM to keep the mp3's from being loaded to the iPod.  All of my MP3's (encoded by me or... by others) have loaded just fine on my iPod.

Around 1000 or so. Unless you're downloading 30 minute jam band songs.

I have an 80G iPod Classic that has about 1600 songs on it and that uses about 5.3G so I would say that around 1000 songs on a 4G sounds about right....

Actually, in his original post, all he said was "4G" which could be 4th Generation or 4 GB...
