I just got totally disgusted with Zone Alarm. I have been having problems with system running slow locking up & so forth. So I uninstalled ZA and things seem to be better. What anti virus, anti spyware, firewall do you use. It doesn't need to be free just has to not screw up my computer.

I tried zone alarm, but I got tired of all the pop ups for stuff it should have blocked silently.  I ended up going back to the windows firewall.  Its just too easy to fuck your system by clicking the wrong thing on the pop ups.

As for AV and SW programs, I am currently running Avast, spybot, and I am testing out malwarebytes-  I really like this program so far.

AVG (Free) anti-virus works fine.

The Windows Firewall also works fine (update Windows first).

Make sure you have the latest version of your browser (Firefox, IE8beta2, etc).

Don't go to porn sites - you shouldn't have any more problems.

I use AVG (with the link scanner turned off) and Spyware Blaster.  I also run Spybot periodically as a check; it hasn't found anything yet.  I don't use a software firewall; I installed Comodo for a while just to watch the logs for anything suspicious, but it never reported anything (I have a Linksys router with basic firewall functionality).

I just downloaded a 90 day trial of Nortons today secondary to having to format my hard drive last week and losing my McAfee.

I have used both for years and both work great.  Cost about $40/yr.  I went with the 90 day trial and plan to pay the fee after the first of the year.

I use Avast Antivirus (free home version) and Spyware Doctor (free version bundled with Google Pack).

I use Firefox as my browser and with these two programs, I have had zero problems with my computer.

No pron, I just loadedthe new ZA and the problems started. System slowed to a nsails pace and kept getting the blue screen of death error "Bad_Pool_Caller" Something to do with conflicts with Windows. So I just dumped ZA and I running without AV software software temporarily.
