Can someone give me some recommendations regarding sharing a personal financial database online?
I'd like to put my Quicken data file (qdata.qdf) on my web site so that my wife and I can both access the database and enter transactions, reconcile reports, send bills, etc. while we are temporarily living at different places (separated). Of course, I'm worried about the security related risks of doing this. I am currently using a shared host for my site. I have determined that I probably should: 1. Place the file in a root directory, rather than a website directory. 2. Password protect the directory. 3. Use SSL to access the data. Is this enough to secure this data? Should I do something different, altogether? Thanks, M.L. |
