Yea, a gun thread in GD, who'da thunk it?

When you transition from shoulder to shoulder with your long gun, do you change hands for your firing grip? I like to keep my right firing hand in place, so my trigger pull familiarity, mag release, etc remain the same, the only difference being that I am shooting off of the opposite shoulder. I think this is very quick compared to fully changing hands.

However, I see virtually no people teach this technique. What is it about this that keeps it from being viable in people's minds? I think its so easy and quick that it's a godsend, but clearly people who have been there and done that have a very different approach.

Can anyone else say whether they use this technique or not, or more specifically, why the full hand-change technique is almost universally preferred?
