Turbos should have a smooth funnels for better air flow. The way they had them set up would cause excessive turbulence. Ahhh, you are pretty funny. Let me reiterate, this man is the fastest in the land, no one has come close to his run. I think he knows what he is doing. We are talking a 2500 hp engine setup from Steve Petty Racing Engines. Oh man i just realized you question dumber than I thought. Those flutes are called anti surge baffles, and you can call up Garrett Turbocharging of Honeywell and argue with their engineers on how you are smarter. |

Those slots push the surge limit to the left of the compressor map, but hey im just an idiot with a 1000 hp Turbomustang myself. |

Is there any video on how he got to this stage, was it torque or catching to much wind here? |

Im surprised that there isnt some form of a filter over those turbos sticking out there like that just kinda seems like it is looking to suck something in there. Small children are the most common things to be injested lol. You beat me to it. I was thinking there will soon be a ban on street sweeping/sucking turbos sucking up the children.

And tacoed the front wheels. THe car will be ready to race again this Sat, and gun for the 6 second zone and the big money prize for being first in the sixes. |

Well then get a job with GE or P&W, they need to be told about this wonderful advance you in turbo machinery. Boeing needs this on the Dreamliner, but then again, what do they know about feeding air into compressors? maybe the motor couldnt have handled the increased air density and volume if it was laminized (straightened)? |

That is one incredibly lucky accident. Not only did the car become a big air brake, but it spun around several times and never touched a wall (with some help from a great and/or lucky driver) He could have easily rolled or hit the wall at steep angle. Im sure the "pucker-factor" was right up there |

How come we don't see Toyota s doing this? Perhaps they're busy in NASCAR beating the US makers at the game they invented, almost instantly upon their arrival....racing engines far from their historical expertise. This is comparable to GM putting a winning F1 car together the first year out, or an American motorcycle company even showing up on the international racing stage. |

What do you expect when they paid Robert Yates to help design them an engine. Its not rocket science. |

Yeah, drag racing is easy. Until you put up a cash prize for the winner. Then it gets a little tricky. |

What do you expect when they paid Robert Yates to help design them an engine. Its not rocket science. You made my point for me, which is that there's no "incapable" with major car companies. The Big3 are capable of making competitive racing cars, just as Toyota, Honda, Ferrari are. For whatever reason, some companies focus on certain types of racing, others don't. Has NOTHING to do with ability. NOTHING. The Big3 are non-players in many types of racing, or suck. Likewise, the Japanese are almost non-existent in the top-tier drag racing field. Do you really think that if they devoted themselves they wouldn't catch up by doing exactly what they did with NASCAR? |
|
Toyota, Nissan, Honda, GM, and Chrysler have never won a Le Mans endurance race. Ford has 4 years, and one of those years they took 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Quite the amazing story about American fight and know how.
Le Mans is the single most difficult motor sports race in the world if you ask me. |

I havent been paying much attention for the past couple years though. |

I'll bet the driving force of Ford's victories in LeMans was your single-minded vitriol against anyone who doesn't love the company. Dude, I don't give a shit about Ford, or Toyota, I was just making a point. |
