I don't know if its a chop or not but I think its something else b/c the head and hand is all that's fucked up. and they just added the piranha bit.

I dunno.

I'm leaning toward real. The eye sockets jump out as fake since I can't see any holes in them, but tissues could still be filling them. And the general quality/fuzzyness looks worse on the bones than in the rest of the pics.

But, it would be a really good photoshop. Reeeeally good.

Don't think it's real-no cut/scrape marks on the skull, and the skull looks like it's stripped of flesh. Piranha would leave scrapes on the bones. That skull almost looks like an anatomical specimen that has been doctored up to look like an attack victim.

TOTAL bullshit. Saw a special on piranhas a while ago. They rarely attack humans. The camera men even swam with a decent sized school, they just got scared and would all swim away. If you watch the Planet Earth extra footage, you'll see the camera man do the same. He even constantly tries to swim inside of the school. They just got scared and would all swim away.

The only animals they attack are mid-sized sickly animals, and they take a good deal of time to eat away.

Some of the shit people will believe here blows my mind...

No, leatherface would leave scrapes on the skull.

Pirahna have TINY teeth, they would leave marks that you would not see in the photos.

Definitely the real deal. These are South Americans, they have nothing to gain by faking this...and they don't photoshop very well.

I'm aware of the size of piranha teeth-but enough fish to cause that much damage should still leave more of a mark-However, I'm more inclined to admit that I'm wrong about this than I am about the series of three pics of a snake that supposedly ate a man(last story I read said it was a boa in S. America, snake was a reticulated python, found in Asia). The swimming inside and eating is typical of piranhas, I'm more curious about the nearly-unmarked torso. Seems like there would at least be some bites there in a frenzy like that.

I used to have a 150g tank w/three red belly's.  They were that way, scared of everything.  Lights, noise, movement, anything at all.  I had my hands in the tank all the time cleaning it, etc. and never worried about it.  But the moment you dropped blood in the water you, you couldn't have paid me too.  I used to feed them by cutting a pinkie mouse's tail and dropping it in tank.  3-4 dozen gone in seconds.  Looked like a bomb went off.  Just crazy.

I have no idea if the story in the OP is true or not tho

The story is FAKE but the pictures are real.

The story about him falling into the water and all of that could be real, but there are other things in the Amazon that will go crazy on a body with a little blood in the water.  I remember looking over these pictures a few months ago, and doing a little research about it.  I can't remember the shark species, but those, piranhas, and maybe some kind of catfish are able to do what is pictured.

Did you bother reading that the blood from the cut hand attracted the piranhas??  Sure the camera men swam with the fish, but were they actively bleeding?  The story may be fake, but it is most assuredly plausible...

When I had piranha's they could strip a frog down to a perfect skeleton. Even the whisper-thin rib bones were still intact.

Did you miss the part about how they figured he cut his hand getting out?
I was rearranging stuff in my aquarium after feeding mine a  piece of caribou and thought I would be okay, I have circular scar on my middle finger. It was just a youngster(a little smaller than a dollar bill) or I might have had a problem.
That sucker eventually got up to at least three pounds.

I have a mounted Piranha that my late great aunt gave me from her trip to brazil. I doubt people who have not handled one of these fish really grasp how vicious and deadly these things are. Their teeth are like the sharp teeth of a saw and they clamp down with some really impressive cutting action. Imagine getting a hickie from a fish, only this hickie removes any and all flesh that gets bitten.

There's also video of pirhanas eating a large snake to nothing but bones in about five minutes. They find or make a hole then swarm into it, eating the flesh from the inside out. If the man was injured and thrashing about, it would have triggered their "lunchtime!" reaction and they would have attacked the wound and any unclothed portion of his body. If you notice in pic 10, the hole under his left armpit you can see where they tried chewing their way out from the inside. The breast meat also seems chewed away. It looks hollow under the skin.

The scrapes from their teeth would be too small for most "point & shoot" digital cameras to pick up. A good professional camera with a studio-quality "macro" lens would reveal much more, especially with better light.

There's an old black & white film, probably dating back to the 30's or 40's, of a cow sent into a pirhana infested stream to be attacked by the fish. It is eaten alive. Having seen that film there's no doubt in my mind that these images are real and he was probably in the water for all of five minutes.
