In a recent Tapco Catalog under a picture of German Flecktern body armor there is a note saying "New laws proposed in Congress will ban the import and sale of this item." What law are they talking about, and is this law a serious threat, or like the miitary surplus bill, where there is a chance to dodge it?

I think they have probably been saying that line forever.  Most likely the old "impending doom" sales tactic.

I was wondering if there are any restrictions on body armor? The reason I am asking is because of the way the cops here were talking about it as if it was against the law for civillians to own it. Thanks.

Maybe the Caliban are at the root of that.
I remember that Seattle banned gas masks during the WTO thing.
Really now, How can the Gummint gas/shoot you if you don't play fair?????

Some places restrict the use of body armor by convicted felons and/or enhance criminal penalties for the use of body armor in the commission of a crime.  I've never heard of anyplace actually banning the ownership for non-LE citizens.
