Sporting Goods almost got the ban hammer from my wallet.

I admit I go there for a few things, 9mm when it's on sale, plate weights, etc.

So...the flyer for last week has .45 acp for 39.99 for 150ct. box.  Before anyone gets on me about the brand it's just for plinking and I don't want to deplete my stores of high quality ammo for target shooting.

So I go in and of course the shelves are empty.  So...I ask for a raincheck for 1000 rounds (actually just over that at 7 boxes) and the kid behind the counter says we don't do those anymore.  WTF?  [>:/]

It's a few days later and I'm making my pilgrimage to CostCo and there is a new Dicks right next door.  I walk in, same thing, shelves are empty only this time the man (no kid here) behind the counter says no problem on a raincheck and promptly writes me one.

So - I will now drive an hour out of my way to shop at THAT Dicks Sporting Goods and forget the one closer to me.

I'm glad he did that, the price per 150 ct. went up 10 bucks in THIS weeks ad.

lol I won't rib you on buying Ultramax

but I asked a guy who I've talked to at Dicks quite a few times about this.  It depends on the employee, often the new guys are not going to write you a raincheck.  The older guys might, it depends on the store manager really.  He did tell me their policy has changed since the election and they're not supposed to write them except in certain circumstances (i.e. they won't write it for 1 box, they'll do it for a case or several cases).  If the store can't keep ammo in stock they're not likely to write a rain check.  If they can but don't have that specific type then they are more likely to write one for you.

I love everyone's excuse for everything. "Since the election.....", "Because of the election....." What has really changed. The turd isnt even in office yet. Fucking price gauging is illegal I thought.

LOL, this is nothing new.  Dick's constantly runs sells on certain things they do not have in stock.  Recently they had Remington 700 SPS's on sale for $460 w/ a cheap scope in .223, 22-250, and .308.

I went into one to look at a 308 as I do not have a 308 bolt gun.  Got there and all they had was the 223 and 22-250.  I asked about a 308 and the guy tells me that they normally don't get those. There are 5 stores within a 1/2 hour drive of my house, none of them have any.  They will not order one, because they just get whats on the truck when it comes.  With the big rush on guns and ammo, they will no longer give rain checks either.

So I'm like, you don't normally carry these, you will not order or try to get one from your distributer, or even give me a rain check in case one shows up a few weeks from now.  Why do they even bother to put those in the sale add?

Lol, I may have to write corporate a letter telling them how I feel about their polocies.

I thought being stupid was illegal... yet, you are a free man.

The only price gouging laws are in response to necessities of life during an emergency situation... and they aren't everywhere and they are damn hard to enforce.  You will most likely see them applied when there is a natural disaster, or in NY when AG Cuomo feels gas prices are too high.  They have absolutely NOTHING to do with the price of ammo and firearms.  But by all means, call his office and complain... just make sure you record the conversation and post an MP3, we could all use a good laugh.

And it is gouging not gauging... just sayin

please go back to school and take an ECON 101 class. if they even teach that anymore.

we are in a capitalist, free market economy, or, for now we are.

people want shit, they are free to buy however much they want. if the price is too high, they are free to not buy it.

I could go on for hours about this, but why waste my time.

Sometimes you can also get somewhere by talking with the manager, and if they keep refuting you ask to speak to someone at corporate or their regional.  Of course that requires you to be civil and keep your cool

.....slamb I don't' recommend that approach for you.  sounds like you'd start a pissing match and get no where fast
