I work as a supervisor at two locations for the same company.
At one location, everyone has a sense of humor. Little is ever taken as offensive. At the other location, everyone walks on eggshells because of the women. One woman takes it upon herself to serve as the hall monitor. She keeps a log of when everyone gets there in the morning, and leaves in the afternoon. Then if she gets herself into trouble, she threatens to go to corporate with proof that [whoever is bothering her] is cheating the company out of time. Another woman files sexual harassment complaints at the drop of a hat. The last one was because someone farted and she heard it. The complaint was dismissed, but people are afraid to relax around her. I'm doing my best to simply avoid that location, and I will probably eventually get into trouble for not doing my job. But holy hell, accused of sexual harassment for passing gas? What the hell! I think if I was the accused, I'd have come back with "hostile work environment" accusations against the woman. |

Luckily at my last two jobs the women were raunchier than the men when it came to language and subjects. I think this is the case in a lot of places... especially in a work environment with young guys and somewhat older women. A couple years ago, I was "hanging out" with the cute admin at work, and a couple of the women took it upon themselves to give me advice on where to take her for her birthday. One suggestion was met with, "Yeah, there's definitely something sexy about that place... not that I want to know if that's what you have in mind! I think that, after that, incident I'm good to go as far as sexual harassment goes. |

Can you not put it into writing that she is causing these problems, and push paperwork on removing her for causing a hostile work envirornment? If you can, you should. People like that never change, and make others miserable. |

Japanese Auto Manufacturer'ing someone (taking away all of their job duties and assigning them an office with nothing in it but a chair so they'll get the hint and quit) should be legal in this country, but we're not allowed to treat any one employee differently from the others.

If the accused had tried to file charges back I think they would've been dismissed. I'm not sure but I think there is a protection from being charged as the result of a complaint. Bitches like that piss me off. These policies are in place for good reasons and she is just abusing it. Passing gas, wtf?! If I were a supervisor I'd start documenting every screw up they make and run them out on a rail.
Watching others for blackmail...charges for passing gas...maybe they should hire me! See how they deal with a woman that belches and doesn't give a flaming pile of rat turd what their tight ass selves think!

I've been known to go "scorched Earth" for crap like that. But in today's day and age, I'm better off protecting my job by just avoiding the conflict. |

I remember when harass was two words...also it goes both ways, if you are are uncomfortable with the situation, you too can file Maybe. But the system isn't fair. If a man talks dirty to a woman, it's sexual harassment. If a woman talks dirty to a man it's like....$3.99 a minute. |

Yeah I got in trouble at my last job for farting - owner of the store told me it was just as bad as sexual harassment because Im subjecting them to it against their will, or something along those lines. I think if I got into trouble for something like that, I'd put on my "scorched Earth" face. Hire an attorney and sue for discrimination, based on a medical problem. I have gastroenteritis or something like that. Makes me fart, and now I'm in trouble. I deserve a handicapped parking spot, but instead I'm getting a letter in my file. Now, if I went out of my way to enter a woman's cubicle, and let it rip, then pointed and laughed... that might be different. But in the case I mentioned, he was standing at someone else's cubicle. |
