Subject: New Liberal Trick about ammo
Well ain't this just great.  It seems the anti-gun nuts are at it in full swing now that they have friends in high places.  I'll bet every gun owner that voted for Obama will be glad that they did.  NOT!

This is one of the goofiest ideas that I ever heard.

The bill that is being pushed in 18 states (including Illinois and Indiana)
requires all ammunition to be encoded by the manufacturer in a data
base of all ammunition sales. So they will know how much you buy and what
calibers. Nobody can sell any ammunition after June 30, 2009 unless the
ammunition is coded.

Any privately held uncoded ammunition must be destroyed by July 1, 2011.
(Including hand loaded ammo.) They will also charge a .05 cent tax on every
round so every box of ammo you buy will go up at least $2.50 or more!

If they can deprive you of ammo, so they do not need to take your gun!

This legislation is currently pending in 18 states: Alabama, Arizona,
California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland,
Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island,
South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington.

and the specific legislation for each state, go to:

Old news.  California already passed a microstamping law (thanks Arnie), but enough hurdles were put into it that I doubt it will ever be implemented.

Ive heard that the guy who invented the micro stamping machine/process is pushing congress to pass this.  Greedy fuck.

I think this is one of those things that will never go anywhere, but will still be a PITA.

If I recall correctly, it was shot down in MD earlier this year. I hope thats were it goes in the future too, it's already horribly expensive to shoot.

CT had a bill but dropped it after they were told by quite a few people that it would be cost prohibitive, largely inneffective and could be used to frame innocent people.

Colt and some other firearms makers told the legislators that they would leave the state if the bill passed and that was the end of it.
