don't tell people these secrets! Why? It works better with more people downloading.
As far as simplicity and ease of use goes, go with uTorrent. Here are some legal torrent sites to get you started: http://beta.legaltorrents.com/ http://www.publicdomaintorrents.com/ http://www.livingtorrents.com/ http://linuxtracker.org/ |

blocks known bad IP addresses, those that my be used by RIAA, MPAA, etc. It will keep them from connecting to you, but your IP address can still be seen in the swarm, so it doesn't really help all that much. Thanks. So as far as setting like spyware, ads and P2P, I suppose I don't need to click those? If I do, I get connection errors. |
| Go ahead and check all those, what you check is what it will block. When I ran peergaurdian, I didn't have any problems unless I checked block http, in which case, it blocked certain websites, but right clicking the icon in the icon bar at the bottom of the screen with give you the option to use it or not. |

Alright I did what was said and downloaded Peer Guardian, I checked off everything in the setup of it.
I'm using UTorrent but it seems to be going slow for me. I'm getting around a 2hr download time on a 700mb movie file. Is that a normal time frame for you guys or do I suck. |

It depends on your connection and the swarm. 700mb for me on one of the private trackers I'm on takes about 28 min. On a public tracker I have had it take up to 40 hours on a movie with only a few seeders. |

You only need this if you are running through a router. It shouldn't matter if your computer is connected directly to your modem. |

One thing to remember is that your download speed will be completely fluid. It will change as more people enter or leave the swarm(the group of people sharing the file), the ratio of seeders(uploaders with the completed file) to leechers(downloaders who don't upload), your UL/DL ratio with the tracker, or any other possible thing. There have been times I had my download speed too fast when my HD was nearly full and it would stop completely if the HD got overwhelmed. |

I use Azureas, now its called Vuze and it sucks balls. I need to find something else too. torrentz.com is a good search engine for torrents. You guys complaining about Azureus changing to Vuze, you do know that in the Tools, under Interface, Start, there is a UI Chooser option that changes the interface back to the old Azureus interface? I have the latest Vuze and I almost can't tell the difference visually from Azureus from 18 months ago. It still works great, and offers slightly more granular control than uTorrent. I'd still recommend uTorrent for someone who doesn't NEED that level of control, but anyone who was already using Azureus shouldn't need to change because of the Vuze renaming thing. FluxPrism |

FluxPrism Thanks for the UI tip! It also works to just fire it up and click the "Library" link at the left near the top. That will show the ones downloading in an upper window and any that you are sharing in a lower window... |
