Just got everything finished...

Very nice, though do you have compartments to carry all the extra batteries you'll need to keep the Eotech up and running (says the reformed Eotech user who now uses nothing but Aimpoints)

Very nice but I figured this belongs in AR Disucssion.

A full rundown would be good. Particularly the light/mount for me.

I agree replace the Eotech with an Aimpoint

Very nice.––IS

Got long arms?

I would have to have the foregrip mounted a lot closer to the back in order to use it.

I would also move the Eotech out further.

But that's just me.

Nice rifle, a solid 10.

Now tell Uncle Barry how you spent Thanksgiving.

That's the AA battery version, it will last a lot longer than the N battery version.

Why not just go with a no battery powered optic?

You must be gay. that color coordination is FABulous
11/29/2008 8:12:30 AM EDT
[#14]
Looks extremely solid except 2 things

I have to agree with others though, the EOtech is the weak point there. Those things go through batteries. That's why I ditched mine.

Also, the ACE stock? I don't see the reasoning there.

How come you did your rifle in a "desert colors" scheme? I didn't know that there were deserts in Florida.

Well, inall fairness, just about have the state is a beach and the whole damn thing is nothing but sand.

Looks good to me although, I'm partial to all black EBR's

Not bad.

1. Ditch the Eotech for an optic that doesn't eat batteries or take a shit when you least expect it. Aimpoint or ACOG. /optic

2. I'd move the VFG and light further back but that could just be me.

3. Needs moar suppressor.

7/10

Nice, but I prefer ACOG

I will be filling my bug-in-bag with batteries for the EOtech...the reason I got the EOtech is because I seriously do not see a situation where I'd ever have to bug out (I live in the sticks as it is so I basically live bugged out) and the sight is just what works best for me.

The forward grip is where it is because I can drive the rifle from target to target very fast and on point. The flashlight is there obviously because thats where my hand would be.

I picked the SOCOM stock because I like the way it looks and it is 100% solid, if I end up using it rough it wont break, as I have seen regular stocks break (from very rough use though).

I chose the color because I got a good deal on my pistol so I decided to make my rifle match it, BUT the desert color scheme blends in very well with the native plant-life around here. I guess it would come in handy on the beach like one of you said but I have never even thought about that.

Specs-
Bushmaster (flame-suit on) 1/9 14.5" barrel with perm vortex
LMT BCG
MI BUIS (bought these before they decided to shit on Mark LaRue.)
Sabre Defence upper receiver
Stag Lower
MAGPUL trigger guard
Gas-buster charging handle
LaRue 9.0 Rail
KNS pins
ACE SOCOM stock with a shitty paint job and H2 buffer
MIAD with bolt/firing pin core
EOTech 512
LaRue FUG
LaRue offset flashlight mount with Surefire 6P
I have a Blue Force Gear Vickers combat applications sling that's not in the picture.

...and yes it needs alot more suppressor, but i need alot more $$.

I'll be honest I don't like the tan stuff. That's just looks so it doesn't matter.

I have Eotech's and love them all. I do however keep spare batteries for them at all times.

It looks like a nice rifle.

SBR the rifle to 10.5"-12" and get suppressors for both. These are the only real changes that I would insist upon.

Out of personal preference I would change the Eotech to an Aimpoint CompM4 with a killflash device and the Ace to a LMT SOPMOD, but if you like it don't change it.
11/29/2008 11:50:03 AM EDT
[#26]
The forward grip looks too far forward.  My arm gets tired when it's out that far.  So I prefer to have the grip closer in.

But you might feel more comfortable with that set up.

As soon as I turn 21, and provided I have the money, I will be getting my hands on a couple of suppressors, I may or may not SBR it, probably not...

A flashlight and an EOTech does not weigh shit. Then again I would not reccomend you putting these things on your rifle, it's to heavy for women.

I scored you 9 out of 10.  You would have scored 10 out 10 if you added ammo, chest rig and more mags for both guns.  Nice rifle!

It extends, in the pic it's collapsed.

I LOVED my KISS setup, but my dad liked it more so he bought it from me and i put together this rifle for SHTF/HD use.

Here's a shitty pic of my old KISS rifle...

You ask for everyones opinion, and then get an attitude because someone dont agree with your set up. I'm sure all your buddies at school will be impressed with it.

The way you said it was insinuating that the flashlight and such is trying to be cool (tacticool)...Im sure you do not relize that a flashlight is a must for HD...EOtech is a preference. Dont get butthurt because you took my post way too seriously, there was no attitude there at all.

I am working on getting a sight like this for my AR, so the Aimpoint is better because of battery consumption ?

Flashlight is an absolute must on any fighting rifle.

My M16A4 weighed 11lbs with all the BS that I had to carry with it.  That rifle is fine at 8 lbs.

Are you saying you don't see an advantage to an EOtech in any situation?  Just wondering your reasoning for the "nonsense" portion.  I personally have gone with and without a CCO through situations and definately have an EOTech tied down on my M4 at all times now.

As far as the rifle goes I would give it an 8.  Don't really like the stock much, but to each his own.  Very nice rifle.  If you would just send it to me for further evaluation it might convience me to bump it to a 9

I also used to carry with my forward grip towards the front for that same reason.  It allows you to drive the barrel from target to target.

Most Aimpoint's have 50,000 hours of battery life. My EOTech has 2000 hours...but i prefer the EOTech setup alot more over just a red-dot.

I like your rifle even though I've never had one in any color but black. I like eotechs also. The new Eotechs last a long time on 2A batteries. I don't think I've ever had to change mine and it's almost a year old. Of course, I turn it off when not in use. Anyway, your rifle looks like it will get the job done.

I really liked the EOtech's reticle and how fast and easy to get on target with it is. But yeah damn thing eats through batteries and whatever you do don't leave it on and put it back in the safe. Lost many a batteries that way.

Aimpoint is much better on batteries.

Well if the EOTech uses AA Batteries I am set, I have a life time supply, I get them free from my Ex-Wife, she gets them free from where she works

Only certain models use AA, make sure the one you order uses them, or else you will end up pissed.

Your VFG is too far forward, but other than that, it looks pretty darn sweet.
