so i got this krag the other day...and i found out that the bolt is originally supposed to be in the white. the bolt came all gummy and dirty and appeared to have some kind of a finish on it(maybe leftover bluing from some point), as well as the discoloration/aging of the steel, dirt, cosmo, etc.

so, after a thorough disassembly and cleaning of the bolt with hoppes, i had this idea... i=
I threw the parts into my tumbler with about half a bottle of hoppes, and then left it for about three hours. i liked what i saw, and then sprayed a shit-ton of CLP in there, and then turned it on for about three more hours. i'd say it turned out great; clean, slick, smooth, mirror finish. it didn't take the bolt back to the white, but it did make everything absolutely beautiful. if anyone has ever seen volcanic glass, think of that mixed in with hints of the bare steel underneath.

my question is if anyone else has ever tried this, or if they know for a fact that this could be dangerous and affect the safety of the rifle. i tempted to throw everything but the firing pin back in there(tumbling might affect pin protrudance) and see how purty she'll get...thoughts anyone?
