Im supposed to be off next week
Range is closed. Going places cost money I could ask and probaly just work and get days off later. My computer needs a new Heatsink until its replaced its not usable, so no wasting my week playing WoW. I could order a heatsink but it will cost $20 for express shipping and UPS wont have it here until Friday. Or I can go to a local place to try and find one (they were closed today) or pay $70 at Best Buy |

Do you have a CompUSA around? Since they got bought out by Tiger Direct, they have a lot of cheap stuff like that for sale. No, ours closed and it would normally have the item instock. I'll probaly order or get it a BB since the local store will want assrape with a condom covered in Icy-Hot price |

Order a cheap heatsink then go buy one at Bestbuy. When the cheap one comes return the Best Buy heat sink and replace with the cheap one. I considered this. Process would be 1. buy both heatsinks 2, remove old heatsink, clean off thermal paste 3. Remove motherboard 4. apply thermal paste, install heatsink 5. Replace MB 6 get ordered heatsink 7. Remove motherboard 8. remove heatsinkm remove thermal paste 9 apply thermal paste, install ordered heatsink 10. reinstall MB 11. Return heatsink which = pain in the ass |

Antec 900 case E8500 processor with stock heatsink The pins that hold it in are these little twist bastards that dont stay in place and from what I heard the standard ones are not that good. It will lockup or do a full shutdown |

I replaced the stupid pad on my CPU with Artic Silver 5 and CPU temps have dropped 20 degrees. Since you have taken it apart, just get a tube of AS5 and FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS. I used acetone on Q-tips to clean the surfaces, then spread it THIN and even with a piece of plastic from an old credit card. |

Seriously, whomever designed those new twisty pins deserves to have his fucking ballsack ripped open while having hot lava poured into the open cavity while having acid poured into his fucking mouth. Note to self, don't piss off tyman. I suggested crucifixion of the person followed by feeding them raw chunks of thier family members. |

Then, if you have 3 in, they are exerting force upwards against that last one so you feel as if you're going to snap the mobo in 2. Clamping them down was worlds better. |

He had a shitty ass stock HSF.....the type/brand of HSF is going to make a far bigger difference than thermal paste will. Stock HSF Q6600's idle anywhere from 40-50*C. My Arctic Freezer 7 idles at 30-33* with just the thermal pad, depending on the temperature of my room. |

Even the new AMD's are still using the clamp method where the bracket is screwed/bolted onto teh mobo. Why the FUCK you would get away from that and go towards this fucking retardedly idiotic bullshit, I have no idea. I think GM and Intel teamed up for these new socket chips and projects like the GTO. |

| Why don't you go outside and enjoy the nice fall weather? Go hiking, camping, paddling, whatever. I can't imagine anyone who would choose to spend a week off just sitting in front of a computer. That's what we do during our REGULAR lives. Your vacation should be for real experiences outdoors. And no they don't all cost money. |

If you have a fairly decent size case, I would wholeheartedly recommend this one: Arctic Freezer 7 Great fan, you position it so the fan faces towards the back of the case to help blow the hot air out. Its the one I use and know a couple other guys who have it. Only complaint is the Socket 775 twisty pins bullshit. |

I'll probably use a nice copper heat sink and arctic silver for my next desktop (core I7) just to get lower temps.

My main concern is I have the RAM that comes with the heatpipes on it, so the RAM is taller then stock. |
