Why are the rank and file police officers usually pro-gun but a lot the ass-hat chiefs and higher always supporting libtard gun control? Is this just a big city phenomenon? or par for the course around the US.

All CLEO's are politicians. It all comes down to which side of the political spectrum their base (in this instance by base I mean city council etc)is vs how strong their beliefs are.

It's hard for a CLEO to say "I think people should protect themselves. Buy more guns." It's really, really easy to say, "Guns are often used in crimes, therefore, guns cause crime, look what a great fucking CLEO I am for making you safer by being anti gun."

It seems to me that the ones I have heard about that are against them are ones that had the burden of doing the paperwork for them placed upon their department.

I'm a Police Chief in a small town and very pro-gun. I know of at least 4 other small town Chief's in my area who are pro-gun.

I agree that it's all about the politics.

Politics plays a huge factor in the higher ups. Typically in the larger urban enviroments, all the anti's are in charge, hence the police heirarchy has to dance to the same song.

We have a winner. The Sheriff of my county is a Republican and gladly signs off on NFA stuff. The county south of me which is Democrat, does not.

Police Chiefs are people. Some people just happen to not be "gun people".

My boss/Chief signs off on my goodies. But there's still a hint of politician in him.
