Will parts other than lowers still be sold legally post an AWB (assuming one occurs)?
Curious because if that is so, I should probably start stocking up on lowers... |

Under the old ban, you couldn't buy a stripped lower before the ban took effect, and then later on build it in pre-ban configuration. It had to be build as a complete rifle before the ban took effect to legally have 'evil' features. Did not know that. New to all this.... I appreciate the info |

True, but there was nothing that said that it had to stay configured as a pre-ban.

You could easily take a pile of lowers and a parts kit, assemble each lower into a pre-ban configured rifle, photograph it and then strip it back down. Of course, there is absolutely no way to know if a rifle was in a pre-ban configuration prior to the ban or not. |

My bet is that they are going to see what they missed last time and make everything hard to get. Remember that uppers with flash suppressors were a no-no unless you had a preban, so you might want to get a few of those just incase they change the wording to read something like complete rifles before a certain date are fine, others have to use ...
The short answer is we have no idea what the future brings, so get at least two of everything you need including all of the little springs and parts. They learned from the last ban and it will be more "reasonable" ideas this time. You don't need that.... Remember the rash of drive by bayonetings we had before the last ban? Nope,I don't either but they took that "feature" and put it on the bad list. |

Of course, there is absolutely no way to know if a rifle was in a pre-ban configuration prior to the ban or not. The Burden of proof is upon them to prove it was not assembled before the ban was enacted. there is virtually no way this could be proven. Photographs are ok, but since a notary will not notarize a photograph, they are mostly not useful in proving anything. Bottom line is, unless they can prove it was not assembled into a rifle until after the ban (which they can't) then they have no case. |
