A friend of mine is putting in the paperwork to redo his FFL.  He let it slide many years ago and is now reenergized to get it.  My question is whether or not the deals he is telling me about are real or if they have declined or if he is just full of it.  He is telling me that he can buy for about 40-60% of what I will find at a local shop or online.  Anybody know what kinds of prices that I'd be looking at.

You asking this forum how much your friend is going to markup the prices he gets?

Maybe if he is a stocking dealer that buys in bulk purchases...
But just resale, not likely.

He should be able to get merchandise for cost. That's at least what my buddy with an FFL told me.

I've seen cost prices on firearms and I think they're generally no more than 30% below market prices in a normal store or online.  40-60% sounds more like "other" merchandise, like duck calls or bore brushes.

I think most folks would be quite suprised to find out what distributor prices actually are. Markup, for many stores, is not outrageous. Certainly nowhere near what your friend cited.

But, if he knows something I don't, tell him to IM me his wholesaler info.

For popular, new guns, look on gunbroker and that's about what your buddy will be paying from a distributor.  There's no mark-up on most new guns.

From viewiing a few distributor sites, with dealer pricing, unless your buddy is going to do huge volume manufacturer direct, you're not gonna find an astounding discout off of market prices.
