I recently posted a divers watch on Craigslist for $190. I had guy from California email asking if I could hold the watch until he got back from vacation and if so, he would add another $40 to the price and have his assistant send a money order asap. He emailed me last week and asked for my contact info which I provided and said the MO was going to be sent by his "assistant". A few days later he emailed again and said that there was a mix up and his "assistant" sent the wrong dollar amount and that I "needed to proceed to the bank as normal and cash the money order", then "forward the remaining balance to a moving company" that he owed the money to. I told him that I will not send his money to a third party that I do not have dealings with and that I would be more than happy to send the balance or the entire MO back to him and we can start over. That was six days ago and had not heard from him. Yesturday, I recieved two $850 money orders from this guy..thats right...$1700.00. And he had'nt emailed or called for five days!! Today he sends me an email stating "Just seeing where we are at on the money orders, I have been kind of worried". I emailed him back my contact info including my number AGAIN and informed him that he has had my number for a week and has neglected to call...only email. I notified him that I would not be cashing either MO and will be sending his MO's back via certified mail. Still no phone call or email since I sent mine this morning at 9. WTF...is this a scam? money laundering? stolen MO's? or just a simple mistake? Has anyone had this happen before? I sure in hell don't like sitting on other peoples money......

Don't do that. It would suck if the scammer was bothered by your stunt and turned you into the feds for sending biohazardous waste through the mail. EDIT: Post 666

People don't randomly send out thousands of dollars to strangers and then ignore efforts by the other party to return it. |
