I just read ninelivez thread about ending a friendship over his buddy's support for Obama. My wife has, and continues to, burn bridges over the very same thing. Called her best friend a "F'ing socialist" after she showed up her with an Obama sticker on her car. And another friend,who has ALWAYS been a lefty dingbat, told my wife that she (my wife) would also support Obama IF she understood economics.  My wife, who started and has sucessfully run a small business, employing 8 people, for the last 18 years, flatly replied: " You want me to take financial advice from someone who has filed bankruptcy TWICE since I've known her?" Her friend left near tears (she recently filed for bankruptcy again, but due to her own stupididty and BAD financial decisions, ie I DESERVE this and that. My wife and I have scrimped and saved to live the life we want, and continue to do so. We literally lived in an old carriage house for years w/out even a TV! Still no cable, cell phones, etc ,and now have a BIG 19" TV. We haven't taken a real vacation in 7+ years, but hunt and fish with our kids a few times a week.Her friend is ALWAYS buying this and that and jetting her and her kids around, all on plastic. She had a similiar incident with yet another friend. What scares and surprises me is tha tthey all homeschool their kids ,as we do, so you'd THINK that they would be more conseravtive and more wary of increasing government interference/influence. And two of the three families are also former mil, one a career man. WTH is wrong with people? Are they that stupid/greedy/self-absorbed, or just looking for someone to TELL them what to do? That nothing is "their" fault-someone else must be to blame? What the hell is happening to MY America? We got into homeschooling to enable our kids to be FREE THINKERS, not Kool-ade drinkers! ( cool rhyme, eh?) On one hand, I'm kind of sad, as she honestly doesn't have many friends, but at the same time, I'm PROUD of her for standing up for herself and our beliefs. As she said, I can't look at, or respect people who follow blindly, and spout the crap that they do! I think she's just flat had enough of STOOPID! |
