| Am I the only person who has had bad luck with them? I mean, I've tried the Sig 226 magzines... didn't work. My brother bought one for his AK... didn't work and the little tit that snaps into the locking mechanism cracked, same thing with another Pro-Mag he had. Yesterday I picked up a 20rounder for the AR. I got it for 5 bucks, figured if it didn't work I didn't lose much. Well, after about 13 rounds, the rounds start to "dig-down" in the front and won't feed. I will never buy another Pr-Mag product as long as I live. |

I don't like all this bashing of the Pro-Mag. I think Pro-Mag makes a perfectly good magazine shaped device, which may be capable (or not) of actually being locked into a firearm. Come one, these guys have perfected the disposable mag! Shirley* that deserves some credit. BSW *I know, don't call you Shirley. |

Pro mag can't make mags that function worth a shit. Part of the problem is they use cheap shit material that cannot hold the required shape or stand up to the use and stress of actually being in functioning firearm. The other part is they basically don't give a rats ass about quality. My vote would be to ban from arfcom any vendor that willingly stocks or sells promag magazines....they are shit squared. |
I hope you are being sarcastic ![]() I do agree that ProMags are crap. I believe the only way they stay in business is because people either have never heard how crappy they are, or are so cheap they want to risk seeing if they can make one work. |
MecGar stays in business by making the best aftermarket mags available. They also are a prime OEM mag manufacturer for many gun companies. I think Promag keeps going by preying on peoples ignorance and desire to save a $. BSW |
I was speaking of Pro-Mag. I'm not familiar with Mec-Gar, althought I came close to buying a couple 1911 mage from them before I was turned onto Wilson and Chip Mccormick mags. |

pro mag sucks One of my favorite reviews to read on CTD was in reference to a 92FS pro mag "I would rather load rounds single shot with fire from Heaven raining down around me than try and use this magazine again" Only MecGar mags I have a problem with are 2 10 rd 1911 mags that I picked up new at a local show. They work fine with 8rds but with 9 and/or 10 rds they FTF in every 1911 I've tried them in (colt, kimber, 2 springfield GI, 1 springfield loaded. |

When I built my first AR I decided to save a few bucks and ordered one through Cheaper Than Dirt (it was during the Clinton AWB). I couldn't get the bolt closed - turns out they cut the mag catch hole too low so the mag blocked the bolt. Absolute piece of JUNK! |
