Hopefully not a dupe...

Republicans blocking ATF Director's confirmation

None of the senators holding up Sullivan's confirmation returned calls seeking comment. They include Republican Sens. Larry Craig and Mike Crapo, both of Idaho, and David Vitter of Louisiana. The opposition is not to Sullivan personally, but focused on the belief that the ATF is overly aggressive in enforcing gun laws.

And here I was thinking there was no backbone left in the Republican party.

Not much in the big picture, but every little bit can send a message...

Now if somebody with a little more respectability than Craig could just take his spot...

Bear in mind that "ATF" means "Ass To Face" and Larry is an old school bathroom queen. It's easy to see why he'd object to the newfangled perversion. Hard to do in a 2' X 4' cubicle.

The proposed ATF Director has too wide of a stance on gun control.

IIRC Sullivan was also recently unseated as the Idaho Republican party chairman.

I would so love the day when the named agency is disbanded by the CRAPO ammendment.

ATF nominee Michael Sullivan is the current United States Attorney for the District of Massachusetts.

You may be thinking of Kirk Sullivan, Idaho Republican Party chairman.
