My G/F was victim of abuse from a spouse. Yes I have her as a CCW woman. We practice when I can get there. I have her girls, 15 and 10 out there too. They can shoot anything I have well including the Mosins.
I have worked on crossing fields of fire. I have worked on close work with a hand gun.
I have steeled them to real facts in reguards to exstep father. Am I missing anything?

Vigilance.

Also, get them accustomed to creating scenarios wherever they go - wherever they are.  Always thinking, "What would I do if something happened right at this moment?" gives a person an edge.

That little piece of advice will go a long way in the development of a prepared mindset.

Yes, situational awareness. Know what and who is around you at all times.
Keep your head up and eyes moving.

Oh I am doing that.
Last night I was showing both girls what can be done if you don't know.
Yes there was laughing and then there was blood when I showed the girls. Mom knew what was going on, I went for live combat. When I Stopped each attack. I told them how it got stopped.
Oh both girls were so scared of EX, but they are learning. He can't handle a strong woman.

If the guy so much as shows up,  I wouldn't even play the games.
People with abusive ex spouses need time.
If your with someone in this case, and they've been with the POS
within the past few years, it might be wise to not rush into things.
They have a tendency to seek out people to act as a protector...that leads to issues.
