Here is an interesting test to see if you are a pessimist or an optimist

optimist/pessimist test

I scored a 77.      I'm surprised I'm that low of a score.

"According to your responses, your perspective of humankind is rater cynical. You often assume the worst of people, and will usually distrust their motives.  Instead of giving others the benefit of the doubt and accept what they say or do at face value, you take a much more self-protective stance. Unless proven otherwise, you gnerally refuse to believe in other people's good intentions and more often than not, will withhold your trust.  Although this prespective may protect you from being taken advantage of, you could definately benefit from being a little more trusting.  Your belief that many people are fundamentally bad can lead to a rather pessimistic outlook, that is, if you don't already have one.  Unlike their less positive counterparts, optimists will at least try to find the good in even the most difficult of people, and are much more willing to place their faith in others.  Although this doesn't mean that you should trust the good intantions of everyone you meet, a leap of faith every once in a while couldn't hurt"

According to your responses, your perspective of humankind is quite cynical. You tend to assume the worst of people, and will frequently distrust their motives. Instead of giving others the benefit of the doubt and accept what they say or do at face value, you take a much more self-protective stance. Unless proven otherwise, you refuse to believe in other people’s good intentions and rarely, if ever, place your trust in them. Although this perspective may protect you from being taken advantage of, you could definitely benefit from being a little more trusting. Your belief that many people are fundamentally bad can lead to a rather pessimistic outlook, that is, if you don’t already have one. According to your responses, your perspective of humankind is neither naïve nor jaded. Instead of assuming the best or worst of someone, you wait before making a judgment. You prefer to have others earn your trust, and although you won’t necessarily assume everyone has a hidden agenda, you’re also not the type to accept everything people say or do at face value. Tempered with a hearty dose of skepticism, this is a relatively healthy perspective. You may however, benefit from being a little more trusting. Unlike their less positive counterparts, optimists will at least try to find the good in even the most difficult of people, and are much more willing to place their faith in others. According to your responses, you are generally the type of person who believes in the goodness of humankind. You give nearly everyone the benefit of the doubt (at least until proven wrong), and will often accept what people say and do at face value instead of making conjectures about their motives. You will at least try to find the good in even the most difficult of people, and are willing to place your faith in others. Unlike their more positive counterparts, pessimists have a lot of difficulty trusting others, believing that most, if not all people have hidden agendas. Tempered with that necessary dose of skepticism, your fairly trusting and accepting nature is refreshing, and likely provides you with a much more balanced and upbeat perspective overall.

WTF a 33????

Where are the good questions, such as:

If an asshole in traffic on a cell phone who wont use a turn signal cuts you off multiple times while on your motorcycle nearly crashing you, and later up ahead on a rural road you see the same car flipped over with the driver still struggling inside and fire will you:

A. stop and immediately help
B. continue on and maybe call 911 when you stop at the 7-11 for a big bite
c.  laugh and proceed onward doing nothing
d.  stop and do smokey donuts, then C

Well,

I DO believe in people pretty much 100% - of course until they do me or someone else wrong with pure selfishness, then they could die and it wouldn't bother me a bit.  I also believe that some 33% or so of the population falls into this category, but I just haven't met them all yet.  Being in sales for so long however,  I'm optimistic I'll more often then not get their money kinda skews my numbers a tad...

I guess I give everyone a fair shot first, but will quickly start to imagine the sound of an aluminum baseball bat hitting their head if they turn out to be an asshole.  And have the wherewithal to start over with the next person I meet.  I have to in my business though.

According to your responses, you seem to be the type of person who believes strongly in the goodness of humankind. You give almost everyone the benefit of the doubt, and accept what people say and do at face value instead of making conjectures about their motives. You try to find the good in even the most difficult of people, and are much more willing to place your faith in others. Although your trusting and accepting nature is refreshing, you may benefit from a more balanced perspective. Unfortunately, believing that everyone you meet has good intentions leaves you open to being taken advantage of. This doesn’t mean that you should be suspicious of others or their motives, but a little skepticism couldn’t hurt.
