I think it's a Naval aircraft even though this picture was taken as it flew over the Air Force Academy, but no idea what it is.

T45 Goshawk Naval Trainer. My next door neighbor is an instructor pilot in those. He had to punch out of one over Louisiana about 5 months ago.

It is, in fact the mighty T-45. The pod on the centerline is the baggage pod. Interesting he has his hook down... hmmm...
