Why are union members supporting Obama? It seems to me that increased taxes on corporations would mean fewer jobs and benefits for union members. I ask because my Dad has a friend in Missouri that says McCain will take away his GM pension so he is voting for Obama. How is McCain going to "take away" a pension from GM? |
Because the AFL-CIO says he's the guy to vote for, the local Hall passes the word down and they get inline like good little Socialists, with the exception of the closet Conservatives in their midsts. |

Unions are a parasite on the host- their employer. The democratic party is a parasite on the unions. Without the unions they would not be nearly as strong as they are today- without unions pushing Obama Mccain might be leading in Michigan today and PA wouldn't be as close. In return for being allowed to be a parasite of the unions, the democrats do their best to force employers (the ultimate host and only really productive link in the chain) to keep feeding the parasitic unions and to force more employers into collective bargaining agreements. In return for the million and millions of dollars the unions suck from employers and give to the dems, the dems push horribly bad legislation, the badly misnamed "Union Free Choice Act" they are pushing now is a perfect example. If it passes, employees will no longer have to vote for a union- union and community organizers - like Obama_ can simply collected signed cards from 51% of employees and wham- the employer is forced to deal with a union he never hired or wanted. That means no longer will there be a secret ballot, every union stooge will know how each person voted, and they "organizers" can show up at your house with 15 guys at night and "ask" that you sign the card, or surround you in the parking lot and "ask" you sign. Unions want this because they know that a whole lot of people can be bullied in to signing these cards like this.. Currently to form a union they first have to get signed cards, then have a secret ballot election. These elections often fail despite having had a clear majority sign the cards, because a secret ballot removes the intimidation factor. So as payback for all the blind support, the dems are removing the secret ballot portion so that unions can bully their way in to more places of employment. So, in the end, it is simple- unions extort money from employers. They give money to democrats. Democrats want that money so they do their best to make sure unions can keep extorting more and more. It is an evil cycle where two parasites each use the force of government and law to suck life from a host. If you have ever seen any of the "voter education" materials the unions distributes you would both be disgusted and amazed anyone is stupid enough to fall for the drivel they push. |

Ex union in right to work state. Until a few companies fail because of Dems they will vote as told...or at least say they will. My old company got sold. ( Me Promoted , outsourced, Out the door. before sale) New owner was not talking to union. (Uhhm) Strike brought up. Not sure of current status.
