Jim Cash is my wifes uncle !

"English only", that's what the mayor of Mountain View is saying.
The town is looking into the possibility of an English only resolution, to discourage people from speaking foreign languages in public.

For now it's an idea. Mountain View's mayor says he's not sure how an English only resolution would be enforced, but he's adamant it's needed.

Mountain View, known by locals, including the town?s Mayor Jim Cash, as the folk music capital of the world. "We're just country folk, I guess you can call us Hill Bellies, "says Mayor Cash.

THV caught-up with the Mayor Cash, who didn't let a day off keep, him from driving home a point.
?If you move to Mountain View you need to speak American and that's the way I feel about it," says Mayor Cash.
Mayor Cash says when he's around people speaking a language he doesn't understand it makes him uncomfortable, he shared his feelings at the towns city council meeting.
"I think we need to make the English Language or the American Language or what ever you want to call it the number one language of Mountain View," says Mayor Cash.

Tell your wife's Uncle Jim he has no right to feel comfortable, or any other way.

Or, whenever you are with him and someone nearby is speaking a language other than English, whisper in his hear "Jim, they're talking about YOU!"

I'm all for a single language (English) when it comes to things related to the government (conducting business, documents, signs etc..)

but limiting the languages spoken in public?

I hear a different languge everyday. German, Russian, French, Spanish.

It can be very diverse around downtown here.

OH THE NOES!!!11!!!
They are speaking in a foreign language.
Run away! Run away!!

Good golly, there is a huge difference in NOT demanding that Spanish and Klingon be offered to to students who don't want to learn English, and not allowing people to speak to each other in the native tongue (or any other tongue they desire!).

I'm gonna call him a Hill Bellie, or a Herby Curby.
