OK, So I just started watching this series on DVD. I am 2/3rds the way thru season 1 and have a couple questions. Now I realize it is just a TV show but........ In one episode, Jake and a couple other people are out hunting for food and come upon a pack of 5 or 6 dogs. So here is the first question, given the situation, total collapse of society, no food available, Would you or would you not eat a dog? I personally would have tried to capture all six of them and then butchered them back at the ranch. Now I personally have eaten dog meat in the Phillipines and it was not that bad. Next question-- Whats with the hardware? Seems like the good townspeople of Jericho only have Shotguns and bolt action rifles, and most handguns seem to be revolvers. Why is it that only the fake Marines and the Ravenwood guys have battle rifles? Well except fop Hawkins who has an H&K something or other. |
It's Kansas. We are still a hundred years behind. |
The simple answer is: people in Hollywood have no idea how many of us exist - us being people who own more than just a bolt action or shotgun. They think it's just a few isolated nuts. |
| You do what you have to do to survive. I am sure any of the peopl who may have said thry wouldn't eat would change their opinion very quickly given a survival situation. I guess it is more a question of how long would it take you to eat dog?. I have been catching bits of season 2 and I have seen enough to order season one from the library it's just too bad tey (the library doesn't have season 2 in stock yet guess I will have to go to Blockbuster. |

Keep track of the number of times that, given any dilemma at all, the towsfolk choose the absolute dumbest fucking option. Well jake, should be eat the T-Bone steak or the fresh steaming pile of dog shit? Well that steak is probably pretty good but the shit is the right answer.
|
Ok, every time Jake gets bopped on the melon, you drink a shot. And every time Jake loses a gun, you chug a beer.... |
Oh, it comes into play later, just wait for it |
yes i'm sure lots of folks own guns other then what we here own. HOWEVER small town, farming area. birds & deer are usually the sport of choice. so those guns shown do depict rural farm America. i know lots of mid-western farm folk and all they own are bolt's and shotties. but they own a shitload of them. |

Any town that's as dumb as Jericho really doesn't DESERVE to survive... My guess is that a "writing team" was involved - and part of the team had absolutely no f'n clue how anyone with half a brain would behave in a post-nuke world. |

I know this is an old thread but did anyone notice the guy who plays the deputy that is the actor who played Muck in BOB. I thought it was funny that when the rangers raided the marine supply truck while wearing Marine uniforms his name tape said Muck. yes, that was an homage from the writers to the character that richard speight jr. played in band of brothers. http://www.baileystavern.com/guns/ar2a.jpg i also have a pic of "mary bailey" standing in front of bailey's tavern holding a "saw". will have to see if i have permission to post it. Of course I figured it was either him or the writers just a pretty neat thing I thought. Personally with as little media as I consume I never catch little items like this but since I am a HUGE fan of BOB and even though I will only watch it once just as big a fan of Jericho I caught this one. As far as Sci-Fi picking it up I am not done with the finale yet but didn't Hawkins get killed? I cant imagine the seies without him, he was always the intelligent one making the right decisions in every episode. |

show had its merits.. season 2 was more brutal but also more cheesier.. the town was too damn mayberry for a post nuke world.. also too much damn soap opera drama going on which diluted to good shit
personally i didnt like how they portrayed the contractors.. i know several contractors and they sure as shit wouldnt do shit like was portrayed in the show that being said with the way season 2 ended i doubt we will see it come back..the only reason they had a 2nd season was all the fan outcry after they cancelled it after season 1 |

I really like this show. from the weapons shown I think that that may be somewhat realistic, I work at a gunstore and most of the people I see arent looking for EBRs, they look for Shotguns and Rifles, and a few pistols. From what Ive seen alot of the people around here think of weapons from hunting, not Self Defence.
And you also see a couple M1 Carbines and the like. |

I liked that show a lot and was sad to see it canceled only to see it replaced with more bullshit tv. I was hoping Sci-Fi would pick it up, but it hasn't happened.
They just started replaying Jericho from the beginning on a local station here in the tampa bay area, WTOG-44. Sunday nights at 7:00 pm. |
