I don't  need him around

Sweet Home Alabama!

[#5]
He is a fucking cranky hippy who sounds like a whiney girl. Though I like cinamon girl.
9/18/2008 9:23:25 PM EDT
[#6]
Mid-western man dont need him around anyhow.
9/18/2008 9:24:32 PM EDT
[#7]
Harvest Moon is a decent song.
9/18/2008 9:24:38 PM EDT
[#8]
The first time I heard him, my hippy-wannabe college roommate was playing his records.  Incessantly.  I can't stand his whiny, raspy voice.  I get queasy just thinking about it.
9/18/2008 9:25:35 PM EDT
[#9]
Type O(-) did Cinnamon Girl better than Neil
9/18/2008 9:27:42 PM EDT
[#10]
Dork.

Couldn't play a listenable guitar solo if his life depended on it.
9/18/2008 9:28:18 PM EDT
[#11]
He should take his whiny old ultra liberal ass back to Canada and STFU. That said he does have musical skills when he can ignore his political activist tendenies.
9/18/2008 9:29:02 PM EDT
[#12]
Neil Young is great.  Especially with Crazy Horse.  His lyrics are usually nonsensical but the words go together well.

His political views are wrong.

I make sure I buy his music used to cheat him out of the royalties.
9/18/2008 9:44:35 PM EDT
[#13]
He's a mutated relative of Bob Dylan,  but unlike Dylan, will sometimes play electric guitar.

I'm not a Dylan fan.  Electrified Dylan-style music doesn't do much better in my book.

I have a friend who looks like Neil Young after a really rough week of partying.   And that's on a GOOD day for him.

I like Neil Young's music.
9/18/2008 10:07:11 PM EDT
[#15]
One of my favorite songs.
Covered by the Man in Black of course.

He's a whiny little girl.

One of the travesties of musical history was letting him play a guitar solo.
9/19/2008 3:24:55 AM EDT
[#17]
POS hippy from Canada
9/19/2008 3:28:47 AM EDT
[#18]
I like some of this tunes. As with many celebrities, you just have to ignore their dumbass personalities. I don't listen to him talk.
9/19/2008 3:30:54 AM EDT
[#19]
He was the model for the Geico caveman.
9/19/2008 3:37:26 AM EDT
[#20]
The Geico caveman has more class and balls than Neil Young.
I can't stand him. He sounds like a whining little girl.
If his songs come on the radio, I immediately change channels.

I would tolerate him more than Jane Fonda, but not much more.
9/19/2008 3:38:35 AM EDT
[#21]
I like Neil's stuff - especially his work with Crazy Horse.

But at 45 I guess I'm an old hippie lover.
9/19/2008 3:41:13 AM EDT
[#22]
His politics make me want to shit on his face.

But I like his music.
9/19/2008 3:48:59 AM EDT
[#23]
I can't figure out how he got a career singing, he is aweful!!!   He sounds like someone skinning cats alive
9/19/2008 4:00:13 AM EDT
[#24]
The old stuff was his best.

And I thought I looked old.......

9/19/2008 4:04:04 AM EDT

He's a weird little shit, but I must admit, I like some of his stuff.
9/19/2008 5:09:49 AM EDT

I listened to him a lot back in the early eighties.

He has some very good songs.

He was OK in CSN&Y when he was more in the background.

But in general I agree with the late, great Ronnie Van Zant's sentiment.

Neil Young is one of my favorite artists.
Love his contributions to music.

Me wishes he'd "keep on rockin in the canadian world".

Ted Nugent would whip his pansy ass!
9/19/2008 5:49:45 AM EDT
[#32]
He peaked in the mid 70's musically.

I really enjoyed His Music...& then He opened His ignorant yap & proclaimed his Political  ignorance.

Can't listen to Him any more without being reminded that He's a Numbskull.

Dammit, I always confuse him with Neil Diamond.

Still not a fan of his music, though.

Live Rust is one of the greatest live albums of the 70's. It's up there with The Who, Live At Leeds, The Rolling Stones, Get Yer Ya Ya's Out and Cheap Trick, Live At Budokan

Have you ever listened to his album "Are You Passionate"?
I didn't think so, but that shouldn't stand in the way of your rant.

"Are You Passionate?"

Are you passionate?
Are you livin' like you talk?
Are you dreamin' now
that you're goin' to the top?
Are you negative,
In a world that never stops,
Turnin' on you?
Turnin' on me?
Turnin' on you?

Are you loving it?
Can you ever get enough of it?
Is it everything?
A love that never stops,
Comin' to you?
Comin' to me?
Comin' to you?

Once I was a soldier,
I was fighting in the sky,
And the gunfire kept
comin' back on me.
So I dove into the darkness,
And I let my missles fly.
And they might be the ones,
That kept you free.

Once I was a prisoner,
I was riding in a truck,
Cleaned up for public display.
I looked at those around me,
And when they looked at me,
I let them see my soul that day.

Are you scared of it?
Do you wish that it would stop?
Does it bother you
when you hear your spirit talk?
Well I'm right with you,
Yes I'm right with you.
It's working on me,
It's working on you.
It's working on me.

Or how about this?
www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6Mfq7z_vHc

I know I said I love you,
I know you know it's true,
I've got to put the phone down,
And do what we got to do.

One's standing in the iselway,
Two more at the door,
We've got to get inside there,
Before they kill somemore.

Time is runnin' out,
Let's roll.
Time is runnin' out,
Let's roll.

No time for indecision,
We've got to make a move,
I hope that were foregiven,
For what we got to

How this all got started,
I'll never understand,
I hope someone can fly this thing,
And get us back to land.

Time is runnin' out,
Let's roll.
Time is runnin' out,
Let's roll.

No one has the answer,
But one thing is true,
You've got to turn on evil,
When it's coming after you,
You've gota face it down,
And when it tries to hide,
You've gota go in after it,
And never be denied,
Time is runnin' out,
Let's roll.

Let's roll for freedome,
Let's roll for love,
We're going after satan,
On the wings of a dove,
Let's roll for justice,
Let's roll for truth,
Let's not let our children,
Grow up fearfull in there youth.

Time is runnin' out,
Let's roll.
Time is runnin' out,
Let's roll.
Time is runnin' out,
Let's roll.

And here is another from "Sleeps With Angels"

Frontier town,
Home of the western hero
Frontier justice,
Dealt with the iron hand

He wore a long coat to the ground
He wore big boots that made a sound
He wore a six gun on his hip
But now he doesn't carry it

Sure enough,
He was a western hero
On the deck,
Sighting an old Jap zero

And on the shores at Normandy
He fought for you,
He fought for me
Across the land and on the sea
But now he's just a memory

And in the distance,
The rocket's red glare
The bombs burst in the air
This time
We're never going back

Through the years
He changed somehow
He's different now
He's different now

Open fire,
Here comes the western hero
Standing there,
Big money in his hand
Sure enough,
He was a western hero,
Sure enough

Love him. Don't care about his politics.
9/19/2008 6:41:15 PM EDT

Love his music.  I think he's one of the greatest songwriters.  His guitar/piano playing are simplisitic yet deep.  Down by the River is a great jam even though his solo's are only on one string.

I hate his politics.

I enjoyed some of his music a a long time ago.

Nowadays, he's just another celebrity that thinks his thoughts about politics and current events merit attention.

Which they don't
