I have a 52 year old black female employee who has been with our company for about six years now, and worked for me as a receptionist for the last three years. She is a very nice lady, reliable, and good at her job, but I am certain she is not terribly bright when it comes to politics or economics. In some ways, she is almost childishly naive in those areas, despite her age. A few months ago, our divisional vice president circulated a memo in which he stated that our workplace must be a "politics free zone," so to speak, and that employees are not allowed to wear clothing or buttons which overtly promote or endorse a particular candidate while on the company premises on paid company time. The policy was deemed necessary to preclude conflicts in the workplace, as well as to prevent giving the image that the company endorsed any one particular candidate or party when dealing with outside clients and customers. I kept a copy of the memo in my file, and provided it were enforced in a uniform and impartial manner, it seemed perfectly reasonable to me. So today, Rosalyn (our receptionist's name) shows up wearing TWO very large and conspicuous campaign buttons for Mr. Hope and Change. I didn't actually notice it until several hours after the workday had begun, since I was extremely busy today. When I realized what she had on, I thought "UH OH." She often greets prospective clients from outside the company, and as I already know from long experience, you can lose customers over the LITTLEST THINGS sometimes. Around lunchtime, I called her into my office for a conference, making sure I had a female employee with us in the room to act as sort of a "stand-by nurse" and be my witness. Then I laid it out to Rosalyn. I was very polite and respectful, but I explained that our workplace was a "politics free zone" and that we were required to remain neutral in all matters of politics while on duty, and that yes, this extended to wearing campaign buttons. I assured her it was nothing against her or her particular choice of candidate, and told her that I would enforce the same rule on anyone who showed up wearing a McCain button too. I explained that the need to appear impartial in matters of politics was essential for the legitimate business interests of our company. Finally, I assured her that she had every right to wear whatever she wanted and engage in whatever kind of political activity she wanted to on her own time and off company property, and I even went so far as to tell her I would "defend to the death" her right to do those things on her own time. Then, I asked her to please remove the campaign buttons, and not display them on her desk or her person while on duty. At first, she did get a little upset, and for some reason she brought up Martin Luther King, saying he was a great man. I agreed, and told her I thought MLK was a great man too (I could have added that he was a Republican, too, since I doubt she knows that, but I let it go). She then complied, and removed the Obama buttons. It gave me pause to consider, thinking about it afterwards. Like I said, Rosalyn is a very nice lady, but she's not highly educated, and she is naive about many things. I think this applies to a huge number of Obama supporters. We can't change the hardcore, radical left - all we can do is fight them. But let's try to work on all those frightened, confused, and easily misled people out there, and see how many of them we might be able to change. |
When you got nothing, you'll use anything! |

I had to do the same thing last week. One of my young liberal college student part-timers showed up wearing a Obama button. I saw it on a security camera that I view from home. I called her up and told to promptly remove it and not to dispay politcal material at work. The next day, I went to work and sat her down for a little discussion about politics. I asked her if she liked her job. She said that she did and told me how great of a boss I am. I then schooled her on how a Dem victory might affect her future employment with my company because my tax increase will most likely result in a reduction of total staff members. After a long discussion, I think I may have turned her away from the dark side. I'm going to keep working on her. |

hope and change is our new motto at work. you can hope to get your work done and maybe we'll change our minds and do it ![]() alli see is obama stickers her ein .gov housing land, its awesome i await for the coming of the great one to lead us to peace and all good stuff.. |
| About 4 weeks ago, the Government Contractor I work for went through a layoff due to lack of work. The Assistant Project Manager showed up wearing an Obama 08 shirt to hand out Pink-slips. I am still waiting for a response from Corporate HR regarding this matter. |
Frankly, there are a lot of black people out there who seem to have no idea that a black person might not share their political views. To many, the black race is a political party of its own. |

fire her ass. No way I'd have someone that fucking stupid or gullible working for me. Serious. keep her till you find someone smarter then BOOT! it's not an Obama/McCain thing, it's a too stupid to research the issue thing. Unless her job truly doesn't require any brainpower then fine, keep her but watch her like a hawk. |
Only racists sound like racists Dont be afraid, speak your mind |
And are working against MLK's spoken aim in his "I have a Dream" speech. Obama is the Anti-MLK since be is a racist who attended a Black Liberation Church for 20 years. |
So you told her she couldn't display political material at work and then you lectured her on your political viewpoint while at work? Good work. |
They aren't looking for equal rights. They are looking for black supremecy. Mark my words. There are a whole bunch of black people out there who actually believe that Obama being elected would put American blacks into a position like the Suunis in Iraq under the Baath Party. They think that an Obama Presidency will create a racial power shift in this country. |
Worse he backhandedly threatened her employment if Obama wins. It could easily be construed that you told her if she supports Obama and he wins. She will be fired. |
I have heard this very line of thinking from the mouths of several black coworkers. Scary stuff and part of the reason I own ARs and a shit ton of ammo. |
His company, his perogative. |
I see Rosalyn being terminated after she loses the lawsuit if she is that stupid. AS LONG AS THESE POLICIES ARE ENFORCED UNIFORMLY AND ACROSS THE BOARD, THEY WILL PASS MUSTER. |

9/10.... You should have agreed that MLK Was in fact one of the greatest Republicans to ever live (A slight lie But with a purpose ), but that was irrelevent to the company showing a nuetral perspective on politics. Plant the seed. Maybe it dies, Maybe it grows, but you should have planted the seed, While remaining non partisan of course. |
Everything. Because he dreamed of a world where his children would be 'judged by the content of their character rather than the color of their skin.' (or something similar.) And many libruhls are voting for him because of his race. |
Yep.... 'Politics Free Zone' to avoid offending customers of either party = good to go... |
|
We have something similar. The workplace has become a political free zone. It seems political discussions have lead to quite heated HR moments and those were usually caused by libtards. Go figure. I think it has become a necessary evil, otherwise the workplace could be a pissing match every day. |
