I need a electrical conversion program for ohms law, watts law, ect. I know how to do the math long hand, but sometimes I spent a lot of time doing all the calculations. Does anyone have/know of a freeware program or something that will help me cut the time? I have found one called convert, but it has no electrical conversions tables, mostly american to metric.

Thanks,
Scott.

HERES'S ONE

You can Google "Ohms Law Calculator" for a bunch more.

Thanks!

Those are what I needed, and I forgot about that calculator. I'll pick one up next time I'm at Grainger.

That's all you need to know.  If you can't figure out the algebra from there then you need to leave all electricity alone before you get a Darwin Award.

Watt's law?

just sayin'. . .

some other helpful tips:

- never put the copper ground wire into the ground a long ways from where the power comes in

- if you're ever standing near a downed power line, don't walk away.  hop. (there is resistance in the earth, ie 3 feet away there is a difference in potential)

- don't be the conductor

- even when there is ESD sensitive stuff around, never wear heel straps when working on a hot electrical panel

- if the switch is down and there are people around, it's probably down for a reason.  ask before you push it up.

- the stories about people peeing on the 3rd rail are all made up.

- a 220V circuit does not need a neutral wire.

fun with electricity . . .

I'm cool with the electricity.

I've worked EHV for 10 years. The only difference is where you put the "." It's all bound by laws.  I do EHV thermography now. I have to figure Transformer ratios, MVA, step rations, load, ect. As for the Algebra, I don't have time to work all the math long hand. I need to speed it up, that's all.

Work smarter, not harder!
