I have a Polish P-64 pistol that I bought a few years back. The first thing I did when I bought it was replace the mainspring with a lighter one. When I took it to the range the gun jammed up so bad I had to pound on it with a mallet to get a spent casing out. I completely disassembled the gun, threw it in a bag, stuck it in a box and put the box in my closet. I had forgotten about the gun until I found it this morning while looking for something else.

Now I want to put it back together and see if I can make it work. It looks like I still have all of the parts, but I don't know how to put them back where they go. Can anyone lend a hand?

I am thinking that when I replaced the main spring I screwed something up and that is why it wasn't working.

So..why did you replace the "mainspring" in the first place? I can't really see any reason why the gun would do that if the mainspring was replaced....are you sure didn't replace the recoil spring?

Because the factory mainspring has like a 30 pound trigger pull. A lot of people replace them with Wolff Walther springs to lighten the DA trigger pull.

The Walther type design doesn't lend itself to light DA trigger pull. The mechanism doesn't create enough leverage.

Awesome thanks!

The pistol is now back together and I figured out why it was jamming.

The pin that holds the trigger in place was not seated properly and it was catching the slide. Two problems resolved for the price of one, and now I have another functioning firearm!
