Bad ammo or headspace issue. (Remington factory ammo)

Buddy is shooting his Enfield and he says that every three or four rounds are cleanly breaking the base off of the rounds in the chamber. The primer is bulged out a little too. I haven't seen the rounds but it sounds like a headspace issue to me.

What says the Hive?????

excess headspace

ETA-- He could try finding a replacement bolt head, they came in several sizes.

Sounds like headspace to me. If it's a No4 he can bump up to a larger bolt head (they're numbered from 0 to 4, 4 being the largest).

No1's are not numbered this way, and were matched to the rifle so it's harder to correct their headspace.

It's a rimmed cartridge, so it headspaces on the bolt...not the chamber/shoulder.

Probably a mismatched bolt head. You can buy different sizes that will fix this.

The hive says, 'Stop shooting the fucking gun, Einstein.' Good God!

And its probably a head space issue.
