With all the rain we have had here in South Florida the mosquitoes are out of control. I have resorted to turning off our outside lights to keep from attracting them, but there are still swarms out there. Besides getting a bug zapper, does anybody here have any idea how to eliminate or at least control the mosquitoes around an entryway?

Keep a can of Raid handy to drop them whenever you use the entryway is an easy and cheap method.

Positive pressure house?

Had a mosquito net that was weighted etc. that you could walk through, worked good.

Home Depot and Lowes sell something you can put in standing water that kills the larve before they can become mosquitos.

I don't have a real standing water issue. I live next to a "canal" but I can't control that. Mosquito control flies over in their DC-3 spraying, but it doesn't seem to matter.

Recent research shows that they actually hate the smell of DEET. There might be ultrasonics they don't like as well.

Oh, yeah, what about BATS!

I had a similar problem. Then I put up a bunch of bat houses around the property. Now my little sonar guided killers take care of the problem for me all night long

A DC-3 for spraying?!?!?!? That is when you know you have a serious mosquito problem, spraying with a DC-3, good lord.

Alex Jones and the chemtrail nutjobs would crap their collective pants.

I hear ya Offspring. Our property doesn't have much water (natural hammock, Naples, FL, in Golden Gate Estates), it is the other low-lying properties on the street.

And no, mosquito control doesn't fly over our house...

How often do you run it and how long does a propane tank last?

I only bring it out when they are bad and this year I have not needed it yet in S.E. Texas. When I need it I run it 24/7 and have to replace the tank every 3-4 weeks. It sucks the mosquitos into a basket and when I don't see that I'm getting mosquitos I stop running it.

Uh, huh...the DC-3 is spraying for mosquito's. Sure they are...

Have you been feeling more content with the government lately?

By far the best mosquito control I have seen.  Takes a few weeks to get all the females but once it does you wont be bothered again.  It's honestly amazing how well they work.
