I'm thinking about a project I'd like to do that involves making a billet of Pattern-Welded Steel and a nearly 100 year old handgun design.

For steel, you can get the material from any local dealer. In our shop we get metal from BMG in Richmond, Virginia. You can also use any number of salvaged metals, such as old files, or car/truck springs. As far as a welding flux I use 20-Muleteam borax.
