Anyone have a gun finished / refinished with black chrome?
Where'd you get the work done?
Got any good pics of the finish?
Any other info on this finish?

Hmm, never though about that before...

Sounds like it could be pretty sweet looking.

I have heard that it wears very similar to bluing and is fairly delicate compared to hard chrome.

I believe APW has a pretty good description on it.

I've read that it's about as hard as nickle, not as hard as regular chrome. The problem is no place has high resolution/ good pics of what the finished product looks like on a firearm.

I just dug around on APW's website and can't find the description I remember.

Here is the website

I think you mean this?
I've done a lot of googling and am still stuck without a single decent photo of a black chrome firearm.

ETA: I am on a quest of sorts for a firearm finsih to put on my Sig. I don't want a spray & bake finish, and bluing isn't durable enough, I also wanted to keep it all black. If that isn't very feasible I will just go chrome or NP3.

I bow before your searching skills.

After reading that description I wonder why it isn't more popular?  I can't remember ever seeing a gun done in black chrome.

Good luck on the picture search.

ETA:

Sigs bluing on the older carbon steel slide guns sucks.  I have a P220 that needs to be refinished but I think I am going to go with APW's matte hard chrome on it.

I had it done to a TA 90 that I picked up second hand. The nickel finish was trashed so I had it black chromed at a place we had our barrels hard chromed at.
The finish lasted for about 3 years then started to flake of under the slide and at the slide/frame interface and then spread rapidly from there.

Black chrome is a beauty finish, not a functional finish like hard chrome. Now if someone could do a black hard chrome that would be the cats ass!

I believe I had it done at AAA Plating in Nashville, TN. Can't remember the street name. It is very close to the Titans stadium though.

aha! real world experience! If it's going to flake off, it's no good to me.

I once had a parachute that had the harness hardware done in black chrome. It was expensive as hell, but looked really cool. I may have a piece at work...let me look and I'll post a pic tomorrow if I do.

Google imaged searched "black chrome" somewhere around page 10 I found a black chromed Desert Eagle.

There were a lot of "rims".

It'd be kinda cool to see on a rifle.

It's a major problem in this country, but the more they kill each other, the better....

Oh, you said Black CHROME
