I am booking a flight to Atlanta from Miami and have a indoor cat.  Shes your typical 1.5 year old cat.  I am going to be working up north for a few months and the best way is to take her with me.  To have her fly in the belly of the plane cost more than my personal ticket.  I can carry her on board for a fee of $100 but has to be in a container of 23"lx9"hx13"w.  I have all that but the height.  I am 1.2 inches to high.  Is this going to pose a problem?

Has anyone flown with animals before?

Yes, that height is specified to fit under the seat. We flew with a puppy we were picking up once, and that's where we stuck him during the flight.

I seriously doubt TSA has anything to do with pet carrier dimensions - that is an airline policy matter.

TSA doesn't care about your pets container. They'll screen it whatever size it is.

It's completely the airlines decision to allow it on the plane or not.

Why not drive instead.

If it's a soft carrier you are all set as it will squish to fit under the seat.

If it's a hard carrier go get thee a soft carrier and be done with it.

Get a harness (not a collar) and a leash, too in case you need to get kitty out at any time. You don't want it running away from you in public.

I hope it's not a howler!

Wal Mart has soft TSA aproved carriers, under $20. My dog just set in my lap in the carrier for the whole flight.

Thanks Ill have to check on that.

The reason I will not drive is Im flying into Atlanta and headed to Columbus MS.  I have a family member picking me up.  I drive a classic BMW with Toyo RA1 tires.  They are street legal race compound tires.  The tires only last maybe 5k miles max.  I really dont want to buy another set of tires just for this trip.  As you can tell.  I dont drive that much here in Miami.  Maybe 6k a year.
