Does the safety mechanism on the top need to be lifted in order for the spray to be dispensed? The gf wants to know because she often keeps it in her purse. She is worried some item would get lodged in between where the safety is and the spray button, causing it to dispense in the purse.

I don't think it needs to be up, but I don't wanna test it either

plus, better the stuff in her purse gets sprayed than not having it...

eta, i see nothing that would keep it from spraying when the cap is down...

Hah yeah, I REALLY don't feel like testing it. I told her to keep it in a clear side compartment of her purse.

You talking about the MKIII can?

You don't need to flip the cap all the way up, just stick your thumb ontop of the button, the spring loaded lid will pop up a bit and you push down.

It unleashes a firey hell on whatever is in front of it.

I've test sprayed it once and you have to put fairly deliberate pressure on it.

I think something random causing it to spray is very unlikely.

It will spray no matter what position the safety top is in. Ive had it squirt in my pant cargo pocket once and the same with the GF's purse. Best to keep it in a dedicated pocket.
