Why do so many 1911 zealots think that their weapon of choice is some kind of magical device that will effortlessly slay any enemy they encounter-------perhaps even cause the death of said enemy through overwhelming fear by the mere mention of said 1911------- and every other weapon on the face of the earth is a worthless P.O.S.? I mean, its tried and true and all that but c'mon... And don't say it IS because its magical... |
The silver ones aint that cheap either. It's just convienent tha all 1911s are magical. A must for any ghost slayer... Now your gonna have me searching all of Tamriel and Oblivion for a damn 1911!!! Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion FTW! |
hell yeah

Meh, 1911s just feel a lot better to me while glocks feel like holding a resin block awkwardly. To each their own I guess. Oh and the 1911 is a FAR superior weapon, the design of which has obviously been given to the Chosen One from Yahweh Himself Speed (I fucking Hate glock |
Obviously you've never shot a Colt 1911 of vanquishing using silver bullets +10 to orc slaying. |
Because God is on our side. |
Because it's true!!

Well, I like a lot of my pistols, but I'd say the biggest part of what makes a 1911 so good is that it has an amazing trigger. Even the worst trigger on a 1911 is still better than nearly every other trigger on other pistols. I'm an Oddball, since I like both 1911's and Glocks. IMO the Glock trigger is the second best trigger behind the 1911. |
from Mississippi?? - That kind of blasphemy and failure to believe in the holy writ was the real reason the South lost the war. Shoot and carry a 1911 and shoot an carry a Glock. THEN ask the question. |
It isn't magical, but it has a better trigger. Better than any DA trigger, better than any stricker pistol trigger, even better than the Browning Highpower or CZ-75 trigger (just by a little). This makes for good shooting, in terms of speed + accuracy. On top of that, is has good grip ergs: not too wide like the double column pistols, and a good grip angle. And it rounds that out with the .45 ACP cartridge. Basically, the 1911 offers real advantages in the first few seconds of a gunfight. One could argue that, for a "long" gunfight the mag capacity advantage of some other pistols even this out, but my priority is getting things done up front . . . |
Cuts both ways. |
Just 'cause you don't understand the logic doesn't mean there isn't any. The .45 ACP creates a larger wound channel than smaller bore handguns. And it does so much more reliably when penetratining typical gunfight "obstructions" (like windshield glass). The 5.56 mm is, in fact, a superior choice compared to 7.62 NATO and 7.62x39. Unless you use German or other exotic 7.62 NATO, 5.56 M193 ball ammo actually cause a bigger diameter wound channel than 7.62 NATO ball. And 5.56 beats out all 7.62x39 ball. The only advantage of the 7.62 that you will typically see with ball ammo is in penetrating cover. The reality is that a 6.8 mm or 7 mm rifle round would be a better choice than 5.56, if the logistics base existed. Right now, 5.56 is the best rifle round. |
| Who dares to blaspheme JMB!?! I can tell you one thing, John Browning is waiting patiently at the right hand of God to smite Gaston Glock when Glock stands before them. To compare Glock to Browning is to compare a magician to a scientist, one appears to be brilliant through illusion while the other is just brilliant. |
Post this not again..... Teh intrawebs may essplode
|
Could not have said it better myself (though I a partial to 9mm)
|
Yeah, with the modern loads like Winchester RA9T and Federal HST, the 9 is a good choice. And I understand that you would be partial to the 9.

what?
